I'm still around

If you I dropped off the edge of the earth, sorry, I'm still here. After much aggravation with the round tablecloth from hell,I brought the fabric to a good friend, who has done a ton of Home Dec work, for her input. Her take was that it would never hang right because of all the stretch. She suggested making it a square and putting it over a plain cloth. I talked to the woman I'm doing it for and she agreed to the idea. I cut it to be a 54" square. I also cut some of the scalloped edge off some of the extra fabric, stabilized the 2 sides that were from of the width of the fabric with an iron on tape I had, that's for things like V necks and shoulder seams in tee shirts. Then I sewed the scalloped trim on to those edges. Now I just have to do a tiny bit of hand sewing to finish off the ends. I have a king size sheet that's pale blue to make the under-cloth. That's tomorrow's project. When I finish I'll post pictures. Today I also finished up a tiered skirt for middle DD. It's a brown cotton and I'm satisfied with the final result.I'll post that picture when I post the tablecloth. In between the problems with the tablecloth, I went to our cottage for 2 weeks, relaxed and came back happy to finish up my two projects that were like a sword over my head. Juno

Oh, Juno, what a drag. I HATE projects which take forever AND which I don't even like in the first place. You're a very good friend for sticking with it, I hope you have fun stuff lined up to work on next.

I'm finally winding down my last kilt, lining and final press today. They have just taken way more time than I expected, mostly because can only work a couple of hours a day (everything hurts) and also have other stuff which HAS to be done, like cooking, cleaning, gardening, etc.

As soon as I alter DSIL's kilt I am going to work on something fabulous for *me*!

That, and try to get my web site re-built.... :-(

if this was for anyone else I would have quit. She's a good friend, one of the good people in the world as well. I've told everyone any sewing I do for awhile is for me.I have some lawn fabric coming from Fabric.com for summer tops.I'm looking forward to that.

I'm sure you will give a big sigh of relief to have the kilts done. I know what you mean about hurting all over. Both my knees have been acting up' Rainy days like today are a killer. I do something and have to stop for awhile and go to something that requires less standing or sitting in one position for awhile.

I'm sorry you had to shut down your web site. That's got to be worse than dealing with a sewing project you just don't like. Good luck getting a new one started. I'll be looking forward to seeing it. Juno

It's a pleasure to be able to share our skills with people we love.

Indeed! Second Gunn tartan one is pressed and ready to deliver tomorrow.

Currently it's my mid-back muscles and hands. I know the back pain is due to posture while hand sewing, the hand pain from forcing a needle through 9 (at least) layers of wool-hair canvas-lining. Putting the straps and buckles on is a strength tester.

Thanks. It may still be a while, I have to alter my DSIL's kilt first. I'll be taking pics of them both wearing them to add when the new site goes live.
