It is still very active with great knowledgable people who cherish their vintage Elna machines. I believe that you can peruse all the messages in history without joining (?) but if you wish to post a message - you will need to sign-up. You do not...repeat...do NOT need to download the "DOC to PDF" advertisement. Simply click the green "Download" button located just under the "search" window. I saved mine to my desktop and then printed out a copy.
