I repaired the shirt

had fun with this, I really wanted to salvage the shirt because I embroidered all those lighthouses and didn't want to toss the shirt. I think I'll still add a couple of small seashells to balance the sandcastle. Beverly

Beverly, looking at the shot you took I wouldn't add to it. It add a bit of whimsy. I love whimsy. Juno

Nice save! I like the idea of a few random seashells, too.

You might put that bleach in a safe place, too. With all the new fabrics that say "no chlorine bleach" you probably rarely use it, but the results of a splash are disastrous! I used to use it in my bathtub and kitchen sink, but then I had the tub resurfaced and replaced the kitchen sink. Hooray!

I was also thinking a tiny bucket and trail of footprints....

Thanks. The same set of designs that had the sandcastle (which I heavily edited), had two seashells and a crab. Maybe the crab, stalking the sandcastle... ;-)

Indeed. I don't even remember what I was using it for. I keep Clorox Clean Up in the kitchen to clean cutting boards, but it also can be nasty on fabric.

I have a new SS sink, but the cutting boards still get a good dose of bleach after cutting meat of any kind.

Ok, I'll see what I can work up. May be worth making an entirely new shirt. ;-)

Little footprints wandering around to the back of the shirt, and a little bucket and shovel at the end of the trail. heehee. I'm having a lot of fun with this.

Me too, all sorts of possibilities arise. Maybe a few seagulls, a nice fire, ....

I love the shirt! Thinking about it, the tiny bucket & footprints would make it even more perfect. Emily

Thanks! This has taken on a life of its own. I really think I'm going to have to start a new project. I really like Joanne's idea of having the footprints trail around to the back of the shirt. ;-)

Glad you like it. So often we focus on the front, forgetting that we live in a 3-dimensional world, and that people see us coming and going. We present a neatly decorated front, and a sterile, boring back view, so I thought it would be fun to treat the shirt as a round object and to continue the theme around to the back, providing some additional interest. Dresses are sometimes designed this way, but blouses and shirts rarely are. I think it will be a fun project, and a very attractive result.

Yes, and don't forget the child holding a sand shovel. BTW, are the lighthouse designs for sale? DDIL has a birthday soon and she loves lighthouses, I think just one on a shirt for her would be enough. Emily

We have a small watercolor in our dining area of a front porch facing the beach. It has an American flag, a rocking chair and a child's pail and shovel. We bought it because the pail and shovel. There's something very appealing about a child's pail and shovel sitting someplace, like on the back of your shirt. If you go with the pail shovel and footprints, I think you should have some foot prints coming away from it as well,it would look like the child put it down to go in the water. Juno

That's very true, shirt back are mostly plain vanilla. I don't know why I never thought of decorating the backs before now, thanks for the idea.

I was also thinking about having the crab somewhere in there, and suddenly having the footprints *much* farther apart.... ;-)
