they have a sew along for fall wardrobes...well, I took it a bit further and came up with a list to make a completely NEW, everything fits wardrobe for myself.

There are 28 things in that list, 7 things I either have already or have the patterns and fabric for....I'm giving myself until the end of March to make:

*little black dress *jeans *black slacks *jacket/blazer *skirt *day dress twin set classic, well-fitting t-shirts grey pencil skirt grey wide-leg trousers feminine suit trench coat well-fitting wool winter coat *slim v-neck sweater in signature color classic white button-up shirt dressy jacket dressy long skirt dressy short dress *dressy long dress 3 blouses 2 jackets/cardigans shells cowl-neck top pleated skirt tailored jacket 3 long sleeve tops pull-on top pull-on pants cropped pants

The ones marked with a "*" I either already have completed or have the patterns and fabric for.

SO, if you hear faint maniacal laughter, figure that it's just me getting warp...er wrapped up in a multitude of projects

I just did some quick and dirty arithmetic and the number of items to be sewn works out at about one a week for each item.

Given how long my tailored jackets take, I know I wouldn't have snow balls chance in Hades to make all that.

Good luck and please report progress regularly.

Wow! Gulp, what an undertaking. Will you ever be the fashionplate! And all set for a career. The fabric shopping will interesting too. Good luck with that and the stitching up. When did this sew along begin? There will be sleepless nights for those trying to finish 28 fall items before winter sets in. (If they sew at my rate.) Wise of you to plan for finishing in March.

I noted the skirts and dresses. These days all my dresses and skirts are long. On account of having a genetic factor which causes my blood to be thick, I have to wear those ugly old surgical knee high stockings to ensure good circulation. (Oh yeah, must take warfarin too.) Whenever I look at dress patterns, I'm figuring a way to lengthen the skirts and calculating extra yardage. Just another reason for sewing. :-)

Well, the "fall sew-along" is what got me motivated to take a look at my closet full of clothing (most of which doesn't fit or flatter). If I was only sewing for fall, I should have started it back in June or so!! I'm trying to get a working wardrobe that is comfortable and stylish for a SAHM but will transition to workplace apparel when I'm ready to head that way (have 2 years before both children are in school full-time), but pre-planning is a good thing for me!

Basically, I'm tired of having only jeans and baggy clothing to wear. SO...if I make a flexible wardrobe that actually is made of things that fit and flatter me, I have more choices of what to wear to: school meeting, church, dinner out with my husband, etc.

I'll be working on the first thing at the end of the week...have to get the crib bumpers made for my first "client" (the lady that I'm using as my customer for my first business sample - it will be a gift for her and her new son).

P.S. Pictures will be posted as things are finished

A look I see now and again and really like is a short dress over matching slacks.

I've been meaning to make such an outfit for years now, but I never quite catch up with the desperately-important projects that must be finished by last year.

I am also one of those people who have to wear knee-high sox and take warfarin, making the patterns Joy mentioned very good for me. In the 60s-70s when pantsuits first became so popular, I bought a few patterns and they're in style again. The tops were like very short dresses. In fact, one of them has the top and a longer version for a dress. Emily
