I think my house will burst!

The pattern stash has been expanding again!

Vogue 2898: this one chosen by a customer, but like the Issay Mayaki one, too good not to have in my size too!

Vogue 2903: I've always loved those big skirted 1950's style things, and this Vintage Vogue reissue will make a perfect summer dress or a fab dinner dress for the Christmas party season.

Vogue 8215: bags! I think I might play with view A this weekend...

Butterick 4294... Can't remember why I wanted this one! Possibly for the sari project. I have a sari I want to make into a quilted jacket.

I'm dreading going up in the loft to file them: it's almost 25 degrees here in the living room! Maybe I'll procrastinate a bit and tidy the sewing room up instead!

Oh me too! I have bunches of very similar dresses in my vintage collection, especially in Advance, Vague and Spadea. These dresses also have "swish" appeal but must be worn with adequate crinolines. Will you be making those too? Did the pattern come with a petticoat pattern or do you have to make/find your own? [...]

I made View D for my daughter and plan on making one for me too. I made hers up in a fine black quilted corduroy, delicately embroidered all over in pink, fuchsia, and green florals. Since it is quilted (broadcloth inner) and she wanted it for fall and early winter, I did not line it but finished the seams instead. It looks smashing and every time she wears it, people remark upon it. I used very large black snaps for the hidden closures. and I found some very stretchy cotton lycra in my stash that was a perfect match for the fuchsia liner. So I used that in which to hide the shoulder pads. This is a very nice pattern. Have fun!

Gorgeous pattern!

ROTFLMAO I think I have the *original* of that one in my stash. Made it up in pink "polished cotton" IIRC. With *HUGE* flounced petticoat to maintain the shape of the skirt. Oh yeah, loved Dior's "New Look".

Find my own, but nothing is easier than making without: I just do them like a broomstick skirt only in dress net. Lined, of course... or for lightness and comfort, you can make them out of poly organza, but you need to do 2 or 3 layers...

I will. You don't have pix by any chance? :)

Beverly, you may need to murder me... That pattern came out when I was about six months old!

Nah, I'm one of those rare critters, "A Woman Who Is Not Ashamed Of Her Age"(TM). I'm 67 and glad to be, considering the alternative. ;-)

I will be 74 in July and happy I am not pushing up daisies. Wowed the nurse- practioner yesterday with my exercise habits, low blood pressure, and good diet. What does she think has gotten me this far?

Joining you in the happy-birthday song, Jean

Two more excellent reasons to try pattern drafting software GD&RFC

Kids? Kid*S*??? You had only *one* and you expect him to produce

*more* than one? ;-þ

I'm just grateful for the two I have, and hoping (fingers crossed) that DD #2 will have *one*. She's 35, so time is running out.

Your software can grade or resize a commercial pattern?

And I'll be 75 in December, and have no intention of "pushing up daisies" for a long time. Emily

Oh a heat wave at 25C!! Here we are complaining of a cold winter because it has gone below 20C during the day! By the way, when my daughter kept squirreling (that's a useless expression in Australia as I've never seen a squirrel here!) shoe boxes, toilet rolls etc to our attic for her craft my husband was always threatening to throw it out as he reckoned that the fire lode! Sounds like it could be the same with you!

  1. The software I own, Pattern Master Boutique, will save a pattern style, which can then be recreated with different people's measurements and will create the same style custom-fit for each person.
  2. The commercial product that Wild Ginger (maker of Pattern Master Boutique) sells, Cameo, does indeed grade patterns.

I hope you stay well for a long time. My mom is 76, and she is at the point right now where we are trying to decide at what point we need to intervene and have her not be quite so independent, because her memory is starting to slip and it is starting to cause significant problems. We hate like anything to take away her independence, but it is excruciatingly difficult trying to decide where to draw the line.

Ack! What I meant to say was my vintage pattern collection--- not my vintage dress collection.... lol. I have several vintage patterns for the petticoats too. And some of the dress patterns had their own, especially the earlier ones from right after the War.

OK, I finally got some pix posted but with black, it is nearly impossible to see any detail. My daughter did not want her picture on the internet so I had to trim off her head. I finished the inner seams with black lace. The jacket is also washable (on gentle). You can see the pix here:

Yes, but how do you get the commercial pattern into the software since they are not digitized?
