Identifying my treadle

I have a Singer treadle machine - it was my great-grandmother's who was a professional dressmaker. Its serial number starts with EC and from this I've worked out that it was made in Clydebank, Scotland in 1940. My great grandmother would've been around 30 then (she died about 3 years ago) so it seems likely that she owned it from new.

How do I find out the model? I'd be grateful for any tips.

I've never learnt to use it although my Mum and grandmother who have both say its easy once you get the rhythm going. The table drawer is full of wierd and wonderful feet - I'm not sure how many fit - it will interesting to work out just what there is.

Regards

Emma

Email snipped-for-privacy@SingerCo.com with the serial # and they can tell you the model #, the date it was manufactured, and where.

Email snipped-for-privacy@singerco.com . Tell them the serial number and they'll tell what it is and when (accoprding to their records, which apparently are sometimes innaccurate) it was made.

They'll also tell you if a manual is available and how much it costs.

Thanks to everyone - I've emailed Singer but initial research on the above links suggests that it could be a 201 as it has the 'paperclip' decals.

I've had the treadle for several years now but its been tucked away for a long time. It probably needs a good 'service' but seems to be in good repair. It even has one of the original red felt circles. It does have wear marks but that just reflects the amount of use its had!

If it is a 201, Emma, you got a keeper there! The 201 is a FANTASTIC machine. I have the electric version of the 201, and you couldn't ask for a smoother stitcher and I've seen it classified as a 'light industrial' model. It will sew through anything you can fit under the foot! Congratulations again!!
