Invisible zipper

I've been lurking for a while, but need some help with a project. I've used invisible zippers many times, but always have trouble with the seam below/ at the end of the zipper. The seam won't lay flat - kindof sticks out - not a smooth transition from zipper to seam. I'm using the zipper in the side seam of a summer dress. I know my description is vague, but....any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

The problem of a poochie seam below an invisible zipper is almost always caused by sewing the lower part of the seam *first*. I know, that's how the instructions say to do it, but it doesn't work well, as you have learned. The problem is that even a

*tiny* mismatch in the seam length remaining below the zipper cause the "pooch". Plus it's really hard to get a zipper foot in close enough to the bottom of the zipper to make a smooth seam.

Try doing it the way I have developed:

DO NOT SEW *ANY* OF THE SEAM. Start by sewing in the zipper, and then hand stitch with tiny back stitches the first inch of so of the seam, below the zipper:

can then use your zipper foot to finish the seam to the bottom:

Thanks, I'll try hand sewing. I read somewhere else not to sew the rest of the seam first, so haven't done that. Had problems getting the foot close enough..... Pictures were helpful.
