It's all Sharon's fault!!!

*I* would - and admire it! :)

A reward for doing the boring stuff? ;)

Yeah... Big Sis had much the same. Like our paternal grandfather, she went grey early. Dunno why people say we look like mum. Big Sis is the spitting image of my dad's Auntie Kate, and I'm almost a carbon copy of his mum ('cept she had Titian red hair, and mine started gold and went a sort of russet/brown).

Genes are funny things. GMNT has his dad's feet - exactly!

Giggle!

Whenever I used to complain about my hair/dress/whatever, my dad used to say: It looks fine from here, so stop looking at it.

I think people outside the family see the resemblances but within the family we tend to see the differences.

In that respect, Beverly, you and I are alike. I always try to buy extra fabric to make certain it all matches, otherwise, it will make the DGC or one of their dolls something.

I thought I would buy the dresses for both the wedding and rehearsal dinner, next month, and went to some of the better stores. I was amazed at how the stripes/designs didn't match and also how uneven many of the hems were. Needless to say, I came home empty-handed.

Now to find nice fabric to make them. I have the patterns I like. Emily

Kate, you're a treasure. I will be sure to pack it on my next trip to England. ;-)

No, just routine once-every-10,000-miles service. I can't believe I have 51,400 miles on this car! I used to put maybe 1000/per year on our "second vehicle", (my truck) because DH did almost all the driving when we were out together..

Funny indeed. My younger DD takes *all* her features from her father's side, while older DD and I look almost exactly alike in pictures taken of each of us at the same age. No one mistakes us for sisters anymore, I let my hair go "naturally frosted", she keeps hers a nice chestnut brown. ;-)

I would so much prefer having a largish bit left over than to run short. I have about 1/2 yard full width of this paisley left, not sure what I will do with it.

I bought the outfit I wore for DD's wedding 5 years ago, and I was very happy with it. But I also find most RTW just appalling in its construction. Eddie Bauer T-shirts and long-sleeved wovens are about all I buy pre-made.

I'm so glad you have patterns all ready to go, that makes the whole process so much easier. Good luck!

A very long time ago, my older step-daughter and I were shopping when the salesclerk looked at me and declared, "You sure can't deny she's yours!" DSD and I looked at each other and smiled.

Last night I was looking at the dress I wore yesterday, which I got from Vermont Country Store (yes, I didn't make it!) and was surprised to see that while the seams weren't "flat-felled" they were made so that there were no raw edges. There were some overcast seams in the bodice where there were several pieces and corded trim, but the long side seams appear to be sewn wrong sides together, then right sides together so that the edges are enclosed.

I vote against a draw-string bag or scarf. ;-)

Wonderful!!!! That will look amazing. And we will all notice if we ever get to see pictures.... LOL

Blech! The only good thing about taking the cars in for service is getting to sit in the waiting room and read a book. :) Well...and that the cars run when I need them to..... ;)

We get that a lot too now for some reason. She's 17 and I'll be 40 in a couple months. Makes me feel REALLY good when someone asks if I'm her older sister. LOL She laughs about it too. And says "no that's my gorgeous Mommy." ;)

Aww!

No-ne will ever mistake James and I for siblings, though plenty say he looks like me. 38 years is a bit of a large gap!

Thanks. I figured it had a name, I just didn't remember what it was. ;-)

Easter was fun. I hid some eggs, then I searched for them. Found most of 'em.

ROTFLOL!!! Interesting to imagine what she would have said if the true relationship had been explained. "Well, you must share a common ancestor or something!"

Kate beat me to it: French seam. It's a great technique for very sheer fabric, too.

You'll probably be able to locate the rest of them in another month or so. Just follow your nose...

Ok, I guess I better get off the computer and start sewing. Slave Driver!

I took along my MP3 player and listened to a financial advisor I subscribe to. Not that any of the advice is working ATM, but it's better than three-year-old magazines. And they did advised me to replace the rear brake pads, so that's done, I'm safer, and $300 lighter in the wallet. :-(

At 17 your DD can roll with it. DD was 29 and I was 55 when it happened to us. Made me feel great, made DD go home and dye her hair.
