I recently bought a J. C. Penny sewing machine at a thrift store for
$4.88 . It is a Model 6915  "Nelco".  It had a note stuck to it
indicating that it works but I need a manual for servicing and operating
instructions.  Did I get my money's worth LOL and where may I obtain a
manual?  My local Penny was no help. Thanks for any info you may be able
to supply.                          Dot in Tennessee

I bought a machine from J C Penney's back in the mid-80s, it was a White and
when it needed some adjustments to the stitch patterns after it was moved
across country, White did the work to my complete satisfaction.  If you can
find the company that makes Nelco, it can probably assist you.
I recently bought the manual for an old Kenmore machine from Linda & John
Winkens at relics@sewing-machine-manuals.com.  The manual was sent very
promptly and the nice thing about it besides the price is: the small manual
was copied onto about  8x10 size paper and put in a laminated spiral-back
folder for ease when reading.

I think Nelco comes from a period when Necchi and Elna joined together
and produced some machines that were labelled Nelco.

Almost correct. There was a guy from NY city that was a Necchi and Elna
dealer way back when. AT some point he started brining in machines from Asia
and named them Nelco.  I did read the complete story once. You might try
googling it.
