Jacket Fabric!?

After a completely fruitless search both online and locally for something colorful and interesting, I found:

local TSWLTH Super Store did not have this particular fabric. I ordered two yards, I'm going to use New Look 6759 v. C

self-fabric loops and covered buttons. If it won't work for a light weight jacket I'll make a blouse or something. I was even able to use one of my 40% off coupons. ;-) Beverly

I love your fabric. I have a great love for paisley and the colors are great. Have fun making your new jacket. the fabric is perfect for that pattern, Juno

OOOH!! That will be pretty. And it should give you a pretty versatile jacket. Would look good dressed up or with jeans. Can't wait to see pictures. And I know it will match all the way around. ;)

You did well in your search; congratulations!

I also love paisley and the colors, as well as the fabric, will make a great-looking jacket from that pattern.

So many times TSWLTH and the other one has good buys online that aren't in their stores. Emily

I am anxiously awaiting delivery! I hope it's as pretty in real life as on my monitor. ;-)

Thanks, I sure hope so! ;-)

I have always loved paisley as well. I was hoping for a little heavier fabric, but I may play around with underlining the whole thing with some black rayon-knit fusible interfacing I got from thaisilks.com. It worked very well on some sulk satin, I'll test on scraps of the new fabric.

Yikes, I have created a monster! With just two yards, I will try to match the center fronts, but the whole thing??? I kinda doubt it. ;-}

Go ahead and order some, it's not like we're apt to run into each other wearing it at the same parties. ;->

I searched for a simple jacket pattern without too much detailing, I don't want to spoil the fabric design.

Umm, on THIS butt??? Nope, I'll stick with black. ;-}

I was really hoping to find a geometric or paisley with forest green/wine red/sapphire blue on a black background. I know, not hoping for much... ;-}

I think this is my first TSWLTH online purchase. I would probably have passed, but with the coupon the price was pretty good, and the S&H not too bad.

I hope the colors are as pretty as what appears on my monitor. That's the biggest problem with online fabric shopping. Well that and not being able to feel the stuff. ;-}

There is that. I avoid parties anywhere.

Yes, the fabric does the Ooomph on it's own. No need for frills. Probably no need for an embroidery as suggested from somebody here (although it might look nice if you put something sparkly on one of those 'eggplant' thingies).

Ahh yes, I keep forgetting (for myself, too) that there's always a butt. ;-) Black will do nicely too.

Dear Beverly,

I'm glad you mentioned underlining, because the fabric, as lovely as it is, is going to be too light for a jacket. The underlining will solve the problem. Although I have underlined whole jackets with fusible knit, I think in this case I would use organza, with a separate bag lining in a lightweight rayon or silk.
