Jacket is done!!!!

Thank you. I sure hope to get years out of it. I have to say, too, it was much warmer than I'd even hoped. Yesterday AM it was COLD out there. (And DH was off in the corner of the lot washing his car for the show.) There were a couple other wives I was talking with. They had on parkas, gloves, scarves, etc. And they were saying how cold they were. We were standing out of the wind and I had my coat unbuttoned. :) Let's hear it for natural fibers!!!! Woot woot!!! ;) (even if my sewing room does still smell like steamed wool....... lol)

Yeah. I knew I would maybe have keys in the pockets, and my phone and maybe my little camera. Plus, if it's really cold, my hands FREEZE. So they go right in my pockets. Didn't want to lose the room in the pockets and Really didn't want the pocket bag hanging down past the hem. Even though the coat is fully lined, I was afraid it would look goofy and my the hem do bizarre things.

Was a PITA to move them. But I"m SOOOOO glad I figured out they were too low before I got too far along. The lining wasn't in yet, and it wasn't too bad to pull the stitches out and move them. I was pleased with how they laid in after I moved them too.

I just have to say, I was Very pleased with the whole coat. And it was fun to get compliments on it yesterday too. :)

Well, I did take a quick break now and again. But Tickles is a heavy pawed task mistress, so I didn't dare stop working for too long or very often. I just had to make sure not to jiggle her nap spot too much. (and run directly to the kitchen and prepare her a meal at each stopping point. LOL)

Thanks again.

Oh, Beverly, I need to begin using spell-check everytime I write, at least, until 30-days after my 2nd surgery on December 3rd, when I can get new reading glasses. These are not good for me anymore, but the Lion's Club will find a use for them, I'm sure.

Emily, Everyone I know that has had cataract surgery is thrilled when they have everything working right. In the meantime.we'll give you a pass on the spelling. I can't survive without spell check! The Lions will be very happy to get your old glasses, that's for sure. DS has been a member of Lions for years and is always poking around looking for old glasses. They do good work for people. When I worked in the schools they supplied me with new machines to test eyes. I was very thankful because I knew the school district would mandate eye screenings but not worry about where I was supposed to get decent equipment. Juno

Slave driver! ;-P I finished all the alterations for younger DD yesterday, today is "Read the Newspaper All Day" day, and then I want to get about half of the pillowcases done before starting anything else.

After my recent cataract surgery I bought some $10 readers at the drugstore to tide me over until my eyes settled down. They worked a treat. Yes, they and the old specs all went to the Lions Club box at the eye doctor's.

Juno, Neither of my sons have been members of the Lions Club, but several friends & cousins have and I know the good work they do. I've worm glasses for 50+ years and all my children & most of the grandchildren do, as well; All old glasses go to the Lions Club.

According to the doctor, after this other surgery, the only glasses I'll need is reading ones. Even now, I don't need them for TV and other activities.

Emily, I was joshing, I know you are presently having some vision issues. I waited until a month after my second eye surgery before scheduling an optical exam for new glasses.

The second best thing about sewing, right after making one-of-a-kind garments you will never see on anyone walking toward you, is the compliments you receive when people discover "You MADE that!!!???" ;-)

OK Sharon, You made me do it! It's all your fault! I ordered my fabric for my jacket today. I won't start on it until after things calm down but at least I know I have what I want.

LOL OK!! I take full responsibility. ;) I'm thrilled to pieces you found what you want. Did you find buttons yet?

You will have to put up pictures when you're done. And I meant it when I said you holler if you run into anything that gives you fits. I've got the pattern too so we can work our way through any troubles you have with it. :)

Thanks Sharon, This will be done in stages. I plan on getting my pattern to day. First I want my friend Bobbie to re-measure me. That probably won't happen untill after Thanksgiving. She has some family things that must come first. I'll look for buttons when my fabric comes. After being remeasured I'll start altering the pattern. I know there will be a lot to do. I'll start by making a copy of the pattern and then add at leaset

2 inches to every seam line. That way I know my original will be good for ever. Need the inches because my body past perfection about ....... years ago. That should keep me busy for awhile. Juno
