James's jeans project

Now all done. See here:

the end all I sewed was a bit of the inseam, a little bit (about 2") of top stitching, the belt loops and the hems (and those because we were running out of time!). The rest is all his own work. Not bad for his very first clothing project!

What a super job, James! And the jeans fit him perfectly!

And wow, is he growing up, too!! Quite the handsome young man.

Very good! Now perhaps he can start making clothes for Mum and Dad while Mum gets on with the income-producing sewing (chortle, chortle.) I forwarded the link to my dgd for whom Kate obtained a sewing machine last Christmas. Let's see if it inspires her.

What a clever young man! I've always been afraid of even trying to sew jeans and this is his first project!!!!!! What will he be like when he gets up a full head of steam.

You can start early with simple things. My youngest child made his first garment (loose-fitting, elastic-waist shorts) when he was 3 or 4.

Then I've got about a year! Doesn't give me much time to learn to sew myself!!

I'm trying to persuade him to do a shirt... He wants to do another quilt. I see an opportunity for bribery coming up! :D

Hehehehe! He's fairly impressive all round, but don't tell him I said so! He wanted to get me some more Dolly Mixtures to replace those, so I'd have some to nibble on... :D

Very proud - I keep telling everyone he made them (he's been wearing them all weekend while we were away), and making him go BRIGHT PINK! :D

Thank you - but I don't take ALL the credit! I keep reminding him his granddad used to make all his own trousers!
