I'll keep my fingers crossed! Can't have a mere BOY doing better than she can, after all! ;) Tell her to shout if she needs help! :D

Scary! ;) I think a shirt next: he has the fabric and the pattern... I may need to bribe him with his chess quilt project, though.

He's a grand lad!

What you need to do is catch him young with something he wants, like a dufle bag for school books or a waistcoat/vest with loads of pockets, or something else he can help a bit on, and gradually ease him in. James has made a quilt and a couple of small things in the past.

He's at the age where he's as much embarrassed as proud! :D But yes, he handles the machine well and is getting quite fast on long straight stretches.

He likes the practical stuff, that's for sure! All his school CDT projects get good practical marks, but the write-ups could be more informative... :D

You'll get there!

One thing I have found is that kids HATE toy sewing machines! They always disappoint... BUT they DO like LITTLE machines, like the old Singer Featherweights, the Elna Lotus machines, and other small compact REAL sewing machines! Sometimes I find a tiny real sewing machine is great for a kid who is particularly small. James is NOT small (he's now bigger than me!), and gets on fine with the full sized machines, but he still has a soft spot for the Elnas. :)

My 19YO's most recent project was a bag to carry all his Airsoft stuff.
