Laugh (at myself) for the day

I was getting set up to sew on the kilt, and decided some music would be nice. Opened the 5-disc CD payer to remove all the holiday CDs still in there(!), and along side of the player discovered one last Santa figure I had failed to pack away. ;-}

And no, I don't have any CDs of bagpipes, I'm listening to Bach, Beethoven and Mozart, with a little Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller thrown in for (pun alert) good measure.

By super weird coincidence, a friend of mine who was in military intelligence during WWII just called me twenty minutes ago. I never knew that he had been in Scotland, but I mentioned I was making a hand-sewn kilt, and he told me he was in Edinburgh and was invited to a "Military Tattoo":

which is an internet radio that utilizes the music genome project. You can set up your own radio stations based on a favorite artist or composer and it will play pieces by that person and others similiar to it. It's a great way to get exposed to artists that you may have overlooked. There are links to buy the CD, give more background about the artist. You can even delete songs that come up if you don't like it. We have about 20 different stations ranging from Beethoven to Warren Zevon. (We have widely varying tastes!). I love to listen to the radio when I sew, so this is a good place to check out. Unfortunately because of license agreements it is only available in the USA, but I think they are working on making it more available worldwide.

p.s. good luck with the kilt Beverly, I enjoy seeing the pictures of your projects. Your granddaughter is lucky to have you sew for her.

I have a huge collection of vinyl I am in the process of burning to CDs in my spare time. Also, DH and I invested in lots of CDs of favorite artists, I probably don't have enough lifetime left to listen to everything I already own. ;-}

Thanks, the kilt is going well, I just completed pleat 18 (of 23).

I'm currently working on creating a web site where I can share pictures and better explanations (borrowing on Kate's site for ideas). In my "other" spare time, of course.
