Living soft patterns

Has anyone tried the computer patterns by LivingSoft? It sound like a great idea but I'd like some opinions before I buy, I was considering buying the pants or the active wear program. Thanks LJS

I tried their sampler and found the interface quite clunky, and it wouldn't print on my computer.

I have been a happy Livingsoft (NAYY) customer since the old green-screen DOS version and haven't had any complaints. I know that there is a learning curve, DS5 has really added some nice things. The size range has also increased for those who are close to the "average" sizes. The custom measuring options have been expanded as well. In addition, there are now basic pattern packages (Sewing by Design) so that one doesn't have to invest a lot to test the waters. I love the Livingsoft pants because I have a weird-shaped back dip that makes RTW pants impossible to fit. You WILL have to measure carefully and it is best done with a buddy (think of the fun you and hubby could have-LOL).

I am also an avid fan of Lutterloh and Burda (magazine versions and individual packaged) patterns. IMOHO they are much better than Simplicity or McCall's and can be adjusted better.

I have played with the other software and I have nothing against them, but I know what works for me. Having said that, I would recommend downloading the demos of all the packages and trying them.

I use Living Soft and have been happy with version 4. They are generaly very good with backing up the product and the disscussion group has been very helpful. I would put a however on that though, in that since the upgrade to Version 5 I have had problems with seeing pattern pieces and printing them, and as they have been very busy trying to get every one sorted with the update things have taken a while to get sorted.Prahaps someone will hear my prayer? Try the downlaods of all the different ones you can and see what suits your needs, that would be my advice. Claire.

Claire, Did you get the patches? I get the daily digests from the user group and they know there is a problem and they are offering some fixes. Keep at it and you can e-mail me off-group if you need some help. I don't claim to be a major expert, but I will do my best.
