Looking for a Singer 411 G manual

Does anyone have a PDF or photocopy of the original manual(s) for the singer 411 G they could possibly share?

I found one free for the download here... but surprise! it's in German!

've got one sitting upstairs collecting dust because I have no cluehow to operate it. I spent about $100 in total on this machine 3 years ago (purchase, service, etc.) - so I know it works.

My Halloween costume sewing had to be done on my mother's Singer 5123, a far simpler, more contemporary and familiar machine. But she'll want it back soon and I really need to learn/start using what I have.

Please reply to me privately. Thanks in advance. H

You can find a manual for a Singer 411 for $10.00 here:

might be able to e-mail them to be sure it's similar enough to work with your machine, *and* that it's in English. HTH,

I'm aware that the newsgroups aren't email; however depending upon the newsreader you use you may have the ability to email me directly, since my email appears in the header of this message. I use Google Groups and I can certainly email you directly, were the email you use to post with be a valid address.

Thank-you for the link. I've been to this website already. They don't have a link to a graphic of the cover, so I'm going to assume when I use the "add to cart" function they'll ship me a substitution (similar to other manual-offering websites) - like the 401 manual. It's close, and I may still cave and order one of those, but doesn't show all of the functions.

We (if there is a "we") prefer to share responses with the group. Private e-mail does nothing to contribute to the "general knowledge".

You might want to try the Yahoo group We Fix It. There is a gentleman there who collects only German made machines. I am sure he can help you. I know what you mean by getting the wrong manual. Also about getting one you cannot read well from many of these sites and eBay. Cindy Peters manuals are excellent and very readable. I use hers exclusively now AND her service manuals are the correct. I call and order, she sends. Wonderful person. Here is her contact info. Cindy Peters

FWIW, it has always been bad netiquette to go to a newsgroup -- or a mailing list, for that matter -- and post a public question and ask for the answer to be sent off-list. The newsgroups exist for public discussion.

Now, back in the days of 2400 bps modems, it was correct to email replies directly to the asker, BUT the asker was OBLIGATED to post a summary of responses back to the group in return, which is sure a lot more work than just coming back to the newsgroup and reading the replies.

If you have Google Groups, you can bookmark the thread and find it later.
