Looking for good source of Silk

I am looking for a good place to purchase 5-8mm china silk. I am fairly new to fabric buying and I don't need more than a couple of yards at a time, but I am having trouble finding it at my local stores on Portland, OR. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Richard

ThaiSilks has 8mm silk in a flock of colors. 5mm and 6mm is only available in natural.

Am a fan of Thai Silks from old. Great products at decent prices. Have used their china silk for linings in the past and never had a problem. Mind you only used natural so cannot vouch for colours.

I can really only comment on Thai Silks. I used to visit their retail store in Los Altos. I loved that place. I think the big difference between Thai Silks and Dharma is the range of options. Thai Silks will have a greater range of size, type and color than Dharma. Their quality is good. If you are buying in large quantities and want white or black, then Dharma will have the better deal on price. If you want something with color or a little different, then Thai Silks will give you more options. I love both Dharma Trading and Thai Silks for customer service and their products.

The only real difference is that the silks from Dharma are only available in two colors (natural and black). If you want silk in colors without dying it yourself, you'll need a different source.

I just received an order from Tai Silks and am very happy with it. I am a magician and am learning to work with silk to build my own props. A problem I've found is finding silk that is lightweight enough for my needs. Anything over 8mm is too heavy. I haven't ordered yet from Dharma, but if the quality of their stuff is similar, I'm sure I can use it.

Thanks for all the help, Richard
