Oooh, Wendy, that is luscious!

Between you and Kate, I'm itching to stitch up something long and luxurious. Too bad I don't have anywhere to wear such a thing. And my daughter already has a dress we've started for prom this year. It's very pretty, made of a silk jacquard, but not very inspiring. And almost finished, too.

Dreaming,

Wendywench, I _like_ that first blurry photo. It looks like a painting! Awaiting the clear photos, Milady. Cea

It's wonderful! Now I REALLY want to get on with mine! Must get the bridal stuff out of the way today!

I shall be making my court dress just as a showpiece ,and to act as a walk-through of how to do (and NOT do!) it for others: a real step-by-step project! AFTER the bridal stuff, and after I lose a bit more weight!

Come visit me for Mardi Gras! We live just one block off the parade route, and you can wear your costume right out on the street, all day long, without looking at all out of place. In fact, you'll have PLENTY of company.

I'd have to remember to make it two piece, so I could pull the top up for beads! LOL

Thanks for the invite! Wish I could come down to the sunny south; it's been miserable here. We just got another three inches of snow last night. It was in the single digits when we were out shovelling our long, long driveway at 6:15, let me tell you. Brrrrr.

P.S. Just kidding about pulling up my top!!!

Wouldn't that be fun to all go see Olwyn Mary for Mardi Gras? We'd be the best dressed group!! lol (prolly, the most dressed group too....except maybe for Karen.... LOL!!!!!!!!!!)

Karen, You know all that mess blew past my house to get to yours. :( The kids are out of school again today. That makes two snow days, and two snow "delays" this week alone. *sigh* There is such a thing as too much togetherness....... lol Since you got your drive shoveled, you could c'mon over here and do mine too. It's really short... ;)

Ah, yes, I remember all those years of living in Ohio - and three in Montreal before that. Around here, they think that "bitter cold" is when it gets all the way down to 32F during the night and is 45F during the day! (snicker) Right now on my front porch it is 52F and raining.

I would hope so, dear. First of all, that sort of thing only goes on in the Quarter, primarily Bourbon St., and only among drunk coeds. It just does not normally happen on St. Charles Avenue, where the parades are very much family oriented. These days, I am definitely an overweight, middleaged Mum, but I still manage to come home with more beads than I want (and I don't even try to catch them anymore).

I'm making one now, using the snow that did NOT get shovelled! We just shovel tracks, otherwise that's all we'd accomplish all winter long.

Just do what I do, Sharon, and call it a "snow workout"!

One DD decided to marry in VA Beach on March 1, 1980 and have the reception in the new townhouse they had just purchased and furnished. Some 30 people were guests and wouldn't you know, a snow storm blew in during the ceremonies and most of the 30 guests spent the night in their home with them. They were both stationed at the NAS there, so most of the guests were Naval personnel, they had a blast that night, she reported. I wasn't able to get enough leave from school to attend to get a first hand look A sad note, I have 2 DS in Gretna, Olwyn Mary, and a DB lives in Harvey. One of the DSs fell Sunday and fractured a foot and her back. She is in Oschner's, so would everyone please say a prayer for her? I am often in N O and may be there President's Day weekend. . Emily

Sorry to take so long to answer, Emily, but I just now lifted my head off the pillow. I was absolutely felled by a nasty bout of bronchitis which is just now starting to abate. I have been reading, though, and added your DS to my prayer list. That was a very nasty accident, and I guess it must be severe if she is as far from home as Ochsner, plus that is quite a trek for her family to go visit. I hope you get good news soon.

Olwyn Mary, I am sorry you have been so sick, and it's good you're feeling better. To all who responded to my request for prayers for my sister, thank you all so much. They are appreciated so much. She had surgery on her back Monday, they put in a filler that is supposedly stronger than bones after scooping out the fragments and she is doing great. She will be moved to a rehab center in a few days. She lives in Gretna, a suburb of New Orleans and works at N O's leading newspaper until she retires this spring. Emily
