Lutterloh drafting system

Hi

I went to a craft fair & there was the Lutterloh drafting system, I want to know what people think of it? The idea sounds good but I am not to sure. Thanks Sandra

I bought it years ago. If you are new to sewing, I would think it would be pretty difficult. If you are experienced, probably not too hard. Not the drafting out of the pattern, as I recall that was fairly easy, but there are no instructions as to order of construction. With this system you kinda have to intutively know what order to construct the garment, you have to figure out if you need to make facings and where. I never had too much trouble making things fit going by their system, just always tooke me some extra thought trying to figure out how to attack the process of beginning. I am a very visual person, like step by step instructions with diagrams personally....

The trick is to make the pattern, then before you cut it out to add the seam allowance.....making it like the commercial patterns. Then you need a zip type bag to hold all the pattern pieces and to be sure to mark on the bag what is inside and a date. Also place inside a paper with your measurements. All this needs to be done the same day so you won't forget to do everything. I haven't used mine in many years and the pattern I made won't fit, so I need to start over on everything, and haven't had the extra time to do it. therefore, I haven't used the system in many years. If you are going to spend that kind of money and you have a computer, why not get something like the Wild Ginger products?? Lots of people on here use them and are happy with them.

And... they're not nearly as much work; the options are almost endless, and there is much less guesswork.

I'd say something about being a Luddite here, but anyone asking about a patternmaking system on the sewing newsgroup doesn't fit that category! :)
