I was shopping for a pair of maternity jeans on Saturday. Couldn't find a pair in my size at Sears, and that was the only store we had time to shop that day. There are new types of maternity clothes out, the "panel free" where the pants just fit below the belly and the belly hangs out, and then there are the ones that have what I call a "low cut surround" type panel...also not very appealing.
I looked at my husband when we got home, as I was frustrated and depressed over not finding anything that my slowly evolving belly would be comfortable in, and said, "I should just hack up a pair of my old jeans and put in my own full panel! He, being the PITA he is, looked up and said "That's a great idea honey...why don't you do that?"
Has anyone ever altered their old non-maternity clothes into maternity clothes? Any hints, tips, books, websites or other information that would be helpful? I'm going to try some more stores today, but if I don't find anything, I might have to alter my own. Be warned, I'm not much for sewing clothes - I'd rather do quilts or crafts, so I'm not real up on some of the terminology. I do have a serger and a regular sewing machine.
TIA! Dannielle
