Mixing fabrics

I have made a sleeveless shift in a soft crepe. The back was supposed to be cut on the fold, but I put a seam in it so that I could adjust the fit for my narrower back, and this worked quite well.

I have some very nice sheer that I would like to make an "over-top" (is there such a description?) I have enough for a front and back and sleeves but nothing over for facings.

I am wondering if I could cut the sheer to the same pattern around the neck and armholes and just a little wider on the side seams, hem them down and perhaps put ties around the waistline. And then attempt to fit a short sleeve. (I need sleeves these days and I have an old operation scar on one upper arm that is a bit ugly anyway.)

What concerns me most is the mixing of the fabrics. I have seen this sort of garment in soft draping polyester, and georgette but of course both layers are in the same fabric.

Well, I think if: a) they don't cause static when rubbed together, b) they have the same washing requirements (i.e. both wash at 40deg) c) they have similar ironing requirments d) and look good together

then you should go for it!
