More Pirate frock, and yards of lace!

When you click "Reply" you get a message form with the top portion filled out. Underneath the "From" line is the "Newsgroup" line, which shows what newsgroup(s) will receive your message. It's just a matter of paying a little more attention to the automated portion of the email client. No need for "Tech Support." Don't worry about having cross-posted. I've done it by accident many times, just because I didn't notice the other newsgroups listed. I'm generally focused on what I'm going to type. To err is human.

If I recall correctly, Kate was guilty of of continuing the crosspost, having hit reply-to and not edited the "to" line. I'll try to remind her - it may be painful.

Painful for Kate, or for you, Alan? I'd put my money on Kate. She's very good with those sharp and pointy instruments.

A big Thank-You, Joanne. You and Beverly have helped me understand the cross-post now and I will make a huge effort to never do it again. It's good to know other people have also made the error at times, when they are thinking about their answer.

Fran, thanks for explaining the error I made. I will try to be more careful and not repeat it. I had no idea what I had done till others told me how easy it is do.

It's easy to do Emily. I'm sure we've all done it at some time or another.

I mentioned it because I recognised your name. We've had many problems in alt.sixtyplus with crossposts and I'd put Kate into my killfile over in that ng before I recognised your name.

I didn't realise what I'd done with Kate until Pogonip mentioned your responding to her - I didn't realise it was this groups 'Kate' rather than some other 'Kate'. I've now freed Kate from the depths of my killfile.

Indeed!! I've been accused of such myself. People who claim they didn't know their throat was cut until they turned their head and it fell off.

IIRC, we have similar roots, as it were. A strong Scots element, and I toss in Irish and Welsh from the distaff side of the fambly. Perhaps something about island living and a bit of bad weather makes for a muscular wit with a sharp edge.

Fran,

I have never thought of joining any other ng, except alt.sewing and alt.sewing machine embroidery, because I am busy much ot the time with reading {I love history, historical novels & mysteries}, making photo albums for my DGC and I am writing my autobiography for them as well; but some of my nieces & nephews, whose parents have never passed on the family history & folklore to them. I am the eldest of 7 children and spent so much of my youth with both grandmothers, keeping lots of notes over the years.
