Moved Treadle to Living Room *Happy Dance*

I finally convinced DH to let me move my treadle into the living room! He is concerned about me making a mess and having stuff all over the place, so I am thinking about only using it for Barbie clothes so that everything will fit into the drawers.

Come do the Happy Dance with me!

I haven't actually figured out how to use the treadle yet, like winding the bobbin and threading it, but I did do research and bookmarked it all so I will get it figured out finally! The belt is slipping of the track....or whatever its called......any advice?

TIA

Loading thread data ...

Put a bit of rosin or saddle soap on the belt. If it is just way too long, you'll need to shorten it. Belts do usually stretch in the first few weeks.

Mine lives on the landing: when I use it, I take what I want to sew out of the sewing room and put it back later. DH has long declared that he lives in a sewing HOUSE!

As for the belt slipping... Is it an old belt? It may have stretched. It should not be tight - advice is that it should be as loose as possible without slipping. Make sure that it is all the way round the treadle wheel before you start, and make sure that when you start, it sets off in the right direction! Sometimes, if I let mine get away from me, it sets off backwards, breaks the thread, or the belt slips out of the groove in the wheel!

DH has long declared that he >lives in a sewing HOUSE!>I have one in the dining room and one in the hall - same arrangement. OTOH the kids don't mind, and it's none of the ex's business (not that I ever took much notice on that front).

Hi Irene,

DH probably is right to be concerned about my mess.....I am probably the messiest person around. I am a pack rat and a clutter bug! Especially when I am being "creative", or cooking.

I am 26....making Barbie clothes for DD's and for the kindergarten class at DD's school. (OK........I admit.....some of the Barbie clothes will probably be for me!)
