My entries in the Oregon State Fair

I went to the fair today with my family and took pictures of my entries. These were for the most part atken through glass, so some of the details aren't very clear, and I forgot to take one suit. Here they are:

What a bunch of ribbons!!! How many, all told?

Thirty-five, I think, and I think I may have missed a couple. Several items received more than one ribbon, but I'm not sure exactly what that indicates. I entered 23 sewn item categories, three knitted items, and 9 food items. The awards ceremony will be held on September 5.

Yes, some of them appear to have a blue and a lavender ribbon - at least that's what it looks like to me. Be sure to total them all up and let us know what all you got and what each ribbon is. You must have spent the year getting ready for this! Well done!

Congrats, good work. My mom made that same pink gingham doll's dress.

Wow. What an amazing result. We can hardly see your exhibits for all the awards hanging off them. Great result and well done on the great work.

Wow, Beverly! What an achievement! Your family must be bursting with pride in your work. But watch out -- the other competitors may be planning to move you to Washington!

There appears to be some with rosettes, and at least three different colors of "second" ribbons. I expect I'll learn what they mean on the

5th.

All this represents somewhat *more* than a year's worth of sewing. ;-}

Thanks.

Thanks!

I made it for AG doll "Kirsten", with the matching dress for my granddaughter. I have really enjoyed sewing for the doll, and now she also has Kailey and Josephina. Oh, goodie, more doll clothes. ;-)

Thanks, Kate, your kind words mean a lot to me!

Thanks, it is very gratifying to have my work judged by my peers. My family appreciates me, but they don't have the background to "judge" my skill.

Not a chance! However, I'll likely will be barred from the "amateur" class after this fair.

The wedding gown is gorgeous. Just curious what the ribbons mean on this one specifically. I wish I could see the petticoat.

Thanks, it was a collaboration between my younger DD and me. She decided what she wanted, I did the design and construction.

Red = Second place White = third place Lavender = "Best of Class" Turquoise with Rosette = "Judges' Choice, Best of ___"

I'll have better pictures of each entry up after I get them all back. There are pictures of the petticoat construction on my sewing site:

Joy, thanks so much for your enthusiastic response! You made my day. ;-)

Alas, the fair ended last Monday. I collected all my garments on Thursday, and also received my ribbons and prizes, see my post "I collected my prizes!" for the list. :-)
