My fair Lady Costumes

Hi People, I have been asked to make the 2 costumes from My Fair Lady. My Video player is not working and in our small town, I can't get it on DVD (if it is available in that format!) The costumes are for the songs "wouldn't it be lovely" and the day dress from "I could have danced all night" I have found plenty of pictures on the internet for My Fair Lady but none that have told me which individual song they are for....These are to be worn on the 28th of this month and I am running out of time !! Can anyone please help as I really don't know what I'm meant to be making?...Thank you....Amelia Cross posted

"Wouldn't it be Loverly" is sung before she goes to the Professor's house, and she is wearing her old street-girl clothes.

As PatS said, "Wouldn't it be lovely" is sung in Eliza's pre-transformation street clothes. "I could have danced all night" is sung after the embassy ball, while she's changing from that gown into her bedclothes.

"I could have danced all night" is sung immediately after "The Rain In Spain", and she's changing from this:

a nightgown and robe for the majority of the song. Cathy

How exciting!

"Wouldn't it be loverly" is the first or one of the first songs, with her being a somewhat grimy flower girl out in the streets of London (she's outside, so don't forget a hat to go along with the outfit as well), and "I could have danced all night" is right after she mastered speaking with a non-Cockney accent and she's dressed in a very nice but modest/simple outfit in which she would feel reasonably comfortable with upper-class society but isn't quite upper-class, and in the movie, at least, in the middle of the song she is also putting her nightgown on for bed. The era is Edwardian, if that helps any, but her clothes were not quite so ostentatious as what you typically see.

I beg of you, *****PLEASE***** don't try to copy the movie outfits -- I always DETEST live productions I go to where they have tried to clone the movie in any way, shape, or form, and even though I have always absolutely ADORED the jumper/pinafore outfit Audrey Hepburn wore during the "I could have danced..." part in the movie, I still think an original design will come off far better than an imitation of someone else.

Are you sure? After the ball, she came home totally discouraged because Colonel What's-His-Face and Henry Higgins were so full of congratulating themselves over their success that they totally ignored her. I guess I could pull out the video and watch it again...

Ack! You're right. Pathetic, considering I've been *in* the show ... :P
