My paisley jacket

It's done! I found a pretty jade knit tank to wear with it for now, I'll try to find something nicer later, I'd love a silk charmeuse in the same shade.

I'm invited to a fundraiser tomorrow for the local Highland Dance group, so I will be wearing it to the "Tartan Tea". I think that's fitting, since "Paisley" is in Scotland. ;-)

Pics soon,

Beverly

There is a small town called "Paisley" in Central Florida, about 30 minutes from my Florida house. Barbara in FL & SC

While in Orlando for DGD's wedding, I hope to get to Maitland, FL (no relation to future grandson's family); but I understand there is a fabulous fabric store there. Emily

I think I've been there. My cousin lives in Fern Park, so we hit a number of shops she knew. Lots of quilting stuff, too. But there was one .... big store ...with different sections. It's "Greater Orlando" area.

Thanks for the info; I plan to really look around later. This trip is just a long weekend for the wedding. Emily

Ok, Emily, here you go (and it's really me this time!):

is my first attempt at creating my own web site, I have a lot to figure out. I put pictures of the process as well as me wearing the finished outfit this afternoon to the fundraising tea. I really like how this jacket came out, I will definitely use this pattern for more jackets. Beverly

Very well done! Both the jacket and the web page. The jacket is gorgeous, though I did laugh a little to see the covered buttons maintaining the pattern of the paisley, rendering those lovely buttons invisible. The page is very elegant. A really fine job all around. Crack a good bottle and toast yourself, please.

There is a lot to do in the area. Lots to see and experience. I hope you get back with some free time. It's not just the commercial attractions like Disney, Universal, Sea World, etc., but there is a fantastic art glass museum worth a long look, and oh, so many other things to see in the area. It's also close to the Cape, and they've been having launches lately - not the shuttle, but other rockets. It's a bit of a thrill, seeing something leaving earth for space, the final frontier (or front ear, as someone said....)

Thanks, Joanne!

Yes, I'm AR when it comes to matching fabric. In real life you can actually see the buttons, in that picture they pretty much disappeared. The CB is centered on the same part of the print and the sleeves line up horizontally and have the same portion of the paisley along *their* centers. ;-}

I'm having a cup of warm milk and hitting the sack. ;-)

Thanks for posting these. The construction is perfect as usual and you look great in it. You made a good choice in the pattern and the fabric.

I like the button loops. I used similar loops for the bridesmaids' suits for my own wedding.

I particularly enjoyed browsing through the wedding dresses you have made. It was fun to see how each one fits in its era.

YAY!!!!!!!!!! It's gorgeous and looks lovely on you. Another very fine job well done. And no, I couldn't see the CF opening. When you say match the print, you mean it!! lol

The jacket is absolutely gorgeous and no, I could not see the buttons or the loops; maybe in person. People with the patience to do things as you, always make me feel bad, because I should take the time, but I don't.

Your website is good; I am not techinal enough to do one myself. DS has one for his guitars & family; I suppose one day, I'll ask him for help. Kate's, and now yours!

The fabric worked well, in spite of having been described as "peachskin". Really its more of a medium weight crepe.

Claire Shaeffer has a couple of really good books out, her process for making tubes/spaghetti straps/loops is one of the best methods I have ever seen.

Thanks, I am hoping to make this site useful as well as just a place for sharing my pictures.

Thanks!

Did you notice that the sleeves were matched horizontally along the same motif? Yeah, I'm O/C....

Hey, don't feel bad. Really. Some people actually think I overdo this stuff. ;-}

I'm not technical enough either, fortunately the tools and templates provided are pretty easy to understand.

I just added some additional pages: "Embroidery Projects" and "Highland Dance Costumes". There are just pictures for now, I'll be adding lots more pics and text later.

Anybody want to see my bird pictures? Travel pics? ;-)
