My "Quest" has been answered!

I just called the shop where I ordered my new Babylock Quest (over 2 months ago), and they told me that it came in yesterday! I'm not available to pick it up tomorrow (about 1 1/2 hours away), but I will definitely be there Monday. Hopefully, I can pick it up and get some instructions from their sewing instructor at the same time. Can't wait! I've got a BIG quilt waiting to be quilted, and I was hoping that I wouldn't have to do it on my old machine. Originally, they told me it wouldn't be in until December! I'm so excited!!!!

of us who bought Quests have been comparing notes on the above google group. There are a few things I might change on the Quest, but overall, I'm very happy! I love all the stitches, the lighting, the 80+ needle positions, the even-feed, the acrylic extension table, the knee lift, etc. etc. etc. If you have any questions in particular, let me know, Alice

Wren,

In case an extra opinion might be useful to you, I basically like my Quest. Its reverse stitch function takes a little getting used to, and it's hard for me to remember to adjust the tension for different fabrics. By far the thing I like least about it is that changing the needle plate from single hole to wide opening, which I do quite often, requires dealing with two screws. This, with the little short screwdriver and my thumb arthritis, is so much more trouble than changing the needle plate on my Bernina 1230.

Admittedly, my primary reason for buying the Quest was for machine quilting, and the extra harp room is wonderful for that. For garment sewing, however, IMO "Nothing sews like a Bernina."

Doreen,

Why don't you join our Google Group? We'd love to have your opinions and ideas. Since the Quest is so new, it's hard to find information. I've been using mine mainly for quilting, so the reverse isn't a problem. But, when I do other things, I know it'll take some getting used to. So far, I haven't had to adjust the tension either. I have switched from Coats & Clark thread, although it seemed to work well enough because the dealer suggested it. The dealer's instructor also suggested that I use quilting needles for that purpose. I miss the "low thread" indicator that my old machine had....just this afternoon I chain-sewed several blocks with no thread! I haven't tried out the buttonholer yet either. But, I have done a lot of free motion quilting. I did appreciate your comments. Thanks.
