My summer 2007 plans

;-) Not hardly, I can barely manage all the arrangements needed for the five of us! This takes way more co-ordination than the similar trip DH and I made in '64. We didn't have to consider children's attention spans/wishes...

Thanks for that link! I'll share it with DD, we will not have a car, so we were planning on using public transportation, and I know that would be complex, trying to get to all the places we want to see.

Actually Beverly your better off without a car in Washington. Parking space is always at a minimum and Public transportation is excellent. When our family used to go down to visit my mother we always tried to use public transport. My DD went down 2 years ago and stayed with my brother in Arlington and took public trans every where. They were traveling with a 3 year old and a 6 year old and never had a problem. Juno

Then clearly, they need to be kicked into the 21st century!

Wow! What a great trip! Can I come? :)

You're all going to have a blast! DC on July 4th is amazing -- crowded as all heck, but amazing!

LOL DH has forbidden me to take the tour unless I am eating something that forbids me to talk clearly. He *knows* I am a s**t-stirrer and have been since before he and i even met. Ah well, with luck, I will calm down a bit, ore else learn to keep my own council....or else just won't chaperone when the children visit on field trips.

If everyone remains silent, nothing ever changes. There are times, and issues, when speaking up is not only positive, but essential.

Sure, the more, the merrier. ;-)

I figure the crowds will be worth it, we are staying close in, so we'll just hike back to our hotel after the fireworks.

In the early 80s, one DD & hubby, who lived in VA Beach, accompanied me to D.C. for the fireworks show on the 4th. We took a lawnchair for me and sat on this hill where we had a perfect view. It was one gorgeous evening that is non-forgettable. Emily

We probably won't score a lawn chair, but I'm still looking forward to the show. I watch it on PBS every year, and it's usually jaw-droppingly gorgeous.

I live just south of Boston, lots to see and do. If you can slip a trip to the old garment district there are some great fabric shops with bargains. And try to eat in the North End of Boston (Little Italy) where every restaurant is great. I also have a summer cottage in Dennisport off of Sea St near the beach. I love the area and spend almost every weekend down there. The Kream n Kone restaurant makes the best fish and chips,I look forward to the summer so I can go there. I hope you have a wonderful trip.
