I was in the mood for using up some jeans, and to do something cute.

Those are adorable!  WHy we waste money in the fabric stores, I don't know.
There is so much you can do with recycled clothing, linens, etc.

And here's what I've been working on:
http://www.thesewingforum.co.uk/photoplog/index.php?n=208

An insane mix of appliqué, fusing, gluing, stencilling (all the
lettering is stencilled), sewing, and blood!  And the occasional
technical expression when the pins jabbed me!  It's for the St George's
Day parade tomorrow.  Unfortunately, due to injury (Achilles tendon
strain), James may not be there to help carry it.

Makes a nice change from wedding frockery!  :D

It wouldn't let me in!!!  Very sternly told me "You do not have
permission to view this!!!!!!!!!"

How's about putting it on your site, pretty please?????

BTW, where are they parading?  DH will, at the drop of a hat, tell you
about the year he took his troop "national" and led them in a march
through Windsor Great Park.  Got pix to prove it, too.

Oh wow what a terrific idea. They are beautiful.
Would you mind if I made some too?  I have a country music thing to go
to in July and those would be terrific.

Thank you Donna, I will have a go but not straight away. I have to
finish flowered items for my big Marche aux Fleurs this weekend. I am
nearly done 2 dresses and 3 small bags to go. It's making me feel very
springlike using lots of flower motifs and flowered fabrics and the
weather is lovely and springlike at the moment too. I hope it holds for
the weekend.

Very cute!  But I suspect a sod to wash and dry as often as a bib probably
needs to be.

Nope. They're made to be used. All the applique edges are treated with Fray
Check and the stitching is machine. I raised three children who wore
homemade bibs that were washed a'plenty. The denim is from the side of a
leg of a pair of jeans, so it's not going anywhere. I think it'll last
until whoever uses is wants to use it.

I didn't mean in terms of not being washable, I meant in terms of being
quick drying.  My only beef with demin is that it takes my jeans too long to
dry.  I looooove denim but it is a pain for drying even on the hottest day.

Never thought of that :)
