Napkins and Gravy

I use the stain remover sticks, too. If I pretreat a stain and let it sit for at least 24 hours, usually rolled up so it will stay moist so it can break the stain down, it comes right out when washed. I think the trick is to pretreat and let the item sit before washing.

Could you list the ingredients? I want to know what its equivalent would be in Germany. I have tried sprays and gels but nothing works as advertised; I've never tried leaving it on for a day or so, maybe that's my problem.

We do have a wonderful product called Dr. Beckmann's Fleckenteufel (stain devil) which works wonders. There's a Fleckenteufel for each kind of stain but it only comes in 50ml containers; two stains and it's gone. The one for tar, wax didn't work, though; maybe I didn't give it time.

has anyone suggested Simple Green? Or Dishsoap? I use both to get bike grease off clothing.

Ingredients: Enzymes, surfactants, solvents, stabilizers, water. Contains no phosphates.

That sure does not say much as to what is in it. The stick itself resembles Vaseline somewhat. That is what is so nice about it, it stays in place and does not dry out before you use it. You can see what it looks like here -

down till you see the tube of Stain Stick. I really thing this is more of a grease remover or degreaser. Do you have Fuller Brush in Germany? They used to sell a really powerful degreaser that worked really well.

Which reminds me -- on a bike trip where I was washing my clothes in hotel sinks, all the ground-in chain grease came out of my white socks when I rubbed them with bars of ordinary bath soap.

Nowadays, I wear black socks.
