Neckline facing (again)

First, thank you to both Teri and Taria for your help with my neckline facing questions.

I've finished the practice dress and it's a perfect fit so I'm going to be cutting the "real" dress later on today. I plan to use the self bias for this one, I've printed out your directions, Teri, and will have them next to the sewing machine.

Thanks again,

Judie

Shall the bias binding be cut so it will be 1/4 inch finished width? Or

1/2 inch? It just start with 1 inch wide strip of bias and then see how wide wants to be?

Dear Judie,

Cut the bias one inch wide. Use a scant 1/4-inch seam. Remember to fold over the ends, so that you have finished ends when you turn it. Also remember to remove all but 1/4 inch of the seam allowance from both the neckline and the collar.

Dear Teri,

It will be a few days before I get to that stage but I have printed out your instructions so I will have them next to my machine. Thank you so much for all your help,

Judie

Teri,

This worked perfectly! The dress came out very nicely, I even managed to get some lace edging peeking out from the seam of the peter pan collar. And then went on to decorate some little hair clips with buttons to match the buttons trimming the front of the dress. She (almost 2 year old grandaughter) had her picture taken in the dress this morning.

Thanks so much for your help, I doubt I will ever to back to using those facings again.
