need help sewing

We lived in Milwaukee for a time in a very old house. It had a long bank of four connected, old fashioned stationary tubs. They were just so handy for so many things including dying fabric. And now I just have a single fiberglass tub like most modern homes. It stains if you just look at it... ok I'm exaggerating but it is not very practical. :)

Thanks Phae, I've been looking at bamboo fabric, too. I'd like to give it a try. Thanks for the web sites as well. I hadn't seen them before. I try very hard to limit all the junk. I'm not big on makeup because of the list of chemicals in them. I do use a small amount occasionally but sparingly. I just feel that the chemical industry has made such an impact on our life and much of it is negative, Juno

I also wear very little makeup but I do make use of lotions and creams. Since I found the Environmental Working Group's cosmetic database, it's really helped me to select safer products and brands. They include soaps and all manner of personal care products.

I tried Bare Minerals. I don't usually buy anything that I've seen on an infomercial, but I talked with a friend who uses it, and she even offered to give me some of hers to try. I am sold! I don't wear makeup often, but this stuff is wonderful. Makeup I've bought in the past does things like make my eyes swell shut, or give my skin the look of a fresh sunburn. Not Bare Minerals. It actually feels good and the results are amazing. The one thing I think they could do is to emphasize the "buffing" part of application. Once you've applied it, you can't "buff" too much with that very soft brush. It looks like bare skin, but a rather flawless bare skin.

NAYY, and all that. I'm just glad to pass on information about something that turned out to be as advertised.

Now that it has become popular, the major cosmetic companies are making copies -- but beware. They don't seem to be able to get over their habit of adding various chemicals.

I am with Joanne! Bare Minerals is the best thing that has happened to my skin. I am *very* sensitive to a lot of things. Liquid make up would irritate my skin, make it flake while the make up was on.....ad nauseum. With Bare Minerals I'm done with my make up in a few seconds. Really covers up the rosacea, dark circles and red eyelids. NAYY but if you are at all unsatisfied with you're current make up you should try this. AK in PA

What a great recommendation. I will definitely give that a try. All 5 ingredients ( wow only 5!) are a 2 or lower on the EW cosmetic database scale--- low hazard/pretty darn safe. Thanks!

Where would we find this wonderful make-up, online or watch for an infomercial? It sounds wonderful. Emily

You can call the number in the infomercial, go to

or buy it at any Sephora or Ulta shop, if you have one in your area. There are also a few Bare Escentuals Boutiques around the country. The price for the introductory kit seemed expensive to me (I'm really cheap! LOL) until I found out that it lasts a really long time. Of course, it doesn't "spoil" like other cosmetics, either.

You're welcome! It's not all that often that something comes along that I can recommend so highly.

Thanks for answering my question, Jenn. I'll try the Ulta store first; I've never ordered from QVC. Emily

Oh, I completely forgot about QVC. That's worth watching for "special" deals.

Yup! Sure is. But when hubby notices and says your face feels so soft and smooth (when you're over 50 and the weight you've lost now shows itself in lines and wrinkles) you buy it. I used it just once a day, before going to bed, so it lasted 3 months.
