Need manual for older Kenmore

Model number 158 904. I can order it from Sears, but it will take a month or so (back ordered). I'd like to find one for download, ( and also possibly less expensive). Thanks for the help...I learn lots from you all.

Do you know how old your "older" Kenmore is?

I have a 1960s Kenmore zig-zag machine. The model number on the machine itself is 158-480, but my instruction manual simply says "Model 48" on the front.

If you think it will help, I have a spare instruction manual for a "Model 47" machine (1961?), which you are welcome to.

Hey Mel I found an article about mine on the Patternreview.com site that says mine was produced in the early 1960's also. I haven't done much research on it, but did manage to find a manual ( listed as a Model 90....(I don't know where the 90 came from...it's not on the front of the machine anywhere that I could see...). I really appreciate the offer, though! I really like this machine...the feed dog lever is stuck, and once I get it 'unfrozen' I'll be thrilled, lol. Dawn

Hi Dawn,

It sounds like you're on your merry way.

From my quick web search, I think your machine's model number must be

158-904, from 1964. I couldn't find a model number on my machine, either

-- the previous owner wrote it in the manual :-)

Incidentally, did your machine come with pattern cams? The patternreview.com site suggests that it did originally. If you need some, I have a spare box ... I don't know how I accumulated so many spares! Check your manual. If there is a section on "automatic decorative stitching", illustrating 16 pattern variations, these discs should fit your machine. Once again, you're welcome to them. I don't need two sets!

Good luck fixing the feed dog lever. Once that's done, you'll have a real workhorse.

Yes!! I'd love to have your spare set!! Let me know how much and postage and all. Too cool...the lady I bought it can't find the set that goes with it. Thanks again! Dawn
