New Fabric!

Well, new to me, anyway! I am The Incredible Shrinking Woman at present, and need a new outfit for Christmas and New Year... The one I wore last year is 28 lbs too big! :) So, unfortunately, is the magical sari jacket I wore with it. I want to make another, so while I was in Coventry at the weekend, I bought another sari. This one is black and pale gold silk and rayon mix, and very pretty. It was £38, which wasn't bad. I also found some black crushed panne velvet to make a dress to go under it, which will be nice and warm! This was only £2.50 per m, 60" wide, so I bought 5 m, which should give me enough for almost anything! Something a little bit mediaeval might be nice... I shall look very Gothic!

I also bought a mile or two of lovely braid at less than high street prices, so have plenty on hand for a nice job or two... And I know where to look for more when I finally come to do the Elizabethan court dress project. Maybe this lovely lot will get me out of the sewing doldrums, though possibly not this week, as I have a stinking cold! Grr!

No, no! I discarded mine very carefully - it was properly disposed of! None of that old fashioned 'losing' for me - this was a deliberate act of wardrobe sabotage! ;)

Trouble is that this is only a temporary new wardrobe - I have another 3 stone/42 lbs to go! Never mind - another new outfit next Christmas! Sad, that! ;P

What you need is Tahim's, in the Foleshill Road:

They are just afabric retailer, but they do have the matching salwar kameez outfitfabrics. There are lots of other good little shops close by, and I gotmy sari on one of them. I can't tell you the name... Oh, yes I can! It's called 'Venison's'! Opposite side of the road and down hill a bitfrom Tahim's. Let me warn you that these are rather old fashionedshops, and many don't take Switch or other debits cards, but some willtake Visa, and they do accept cheques and cash. There's a wonderfulbeads and trims shop on the corner of one of the side roads. MyGoddaughter's mum teaches at King Henry's in Coventry, and lots of herstudents shop round there. Lovely shops, great people!
