new project possibly!!

I told our favorite babysitter that, when it comes time for her senior prom, her dress is on me. Well, she is only a sophomore in high school right now, so that gives me a few years.

Last night, she told me she might be going to a friends senior banquet (friend attends a Christian school, and they have a banquet instead of a prom). SHe doesn't have a dress to wear, though she has been looking in the stores to get ideas. She asked if I would be able to do something for her for that and of course, I said I would.

Now, we just have to find time to get together to look at patterns and pick fabrics....the trouble comes from the fact that, in store-bought clothes, she often wears a size "0"...ARGH!! I did tell her that black fabric for a 16yo makes me cringe, but that if her parents didn't have trouble with it, neither would I.....

wahoo!!! fancy sewing....my favorite!!!!

Larisa, who also volunteered to sew a first communion dress for a friend if she found out it was going to be too difficult for her to do

You are a brave lady :) I've got my hands full enough making a kilt much less doing fancy stuff.

LOL..this is the kind of stuff I love the best. I made 2 formals for myself, the 3 bridesmaid dresses for my wedding, plus 2 for another wedding, and a couple of little girls dresses....just something that I adore doing.......

when you get the kilt done, don't forget to post pictures!

I just started on the pleating tonight. It's gonna take awhile. So far they're coming out nice and even right side and wrong side. Reducing 176 inches down to 22 inches is going to be interesting. I just hope I don't goof up somewhere and have to do it all over

better you than me! You can't fathom doing fancy dress, and I can't fathom doing a kilt.....must just be our different levels of comfort

Different, not necessarily better. I think you've done more quilts than I have, and I don't have the patience for exhibition stuff!

I have another new bride coming to see me tomorrow... Looks like she wants something mediaeval for the end of May! Wedding dress, adult and child bridesmaids, and a heap of waistcoats! Fun!

Oh, yeah... No sweat! (Well, possibly lots of blood, sweat and tears, but we'll see... )

I'm a sucker for slightly desparate brides!

Sounds wonderful! Do we get to see pix?
