Nineteen jackets done and delivered

DD brought the jackets to me on Tuesday, and e-mailed the logo. I had to pull an all-nighter, DGD's club played this AM and DD let me know last night she wanted to present the jackets to them today. So I finished at 7:11AM, took a short nap, and drove to the park to watch the kids play. They are amazing! They all received their embroidered jackets after the game, and were charmingly grateful, as were all the moms. DD took pics, I'll put them on my site later.

I hope by now you have had your nap. That will certainly be a cherished item for those girls. It is so nice that you have time to spend on them in this busy society we have created.

Thanks...I think... I don't usually think of myself as a machine, more as an artist who uses a machine. ;-)

Beverly, The jackets look terrific. The girls all looked thrilled with them. You are a wonderful grandma to do that for them. Juno

Wow! That is a huge mob of terrific-looking girls! Nice job on the jackets, I can see how proud they are of them. Good for you!

Thanks!

Yes, they were delighted. I'm a little concerned about how durable the embroidery will be, because the stitches are about a forth of an inch wide in plain satin stitch. I recommended that they be done in a step-satin, but I was over-ruled.

I think they'll hold up all right. They wear the jacket to the game, put them in a pile, pick them up after the game and wear them to the post-game celebration, right? Not a horrible amount of wear and tear, and you can just bet that next year, they'll need new jackets because these won't fit anymore. ;-)

Well, that's true, and since each jacket is embroidered with the owner's name, it's unlikely they will be handed down... not much call for jackets with "Brooklyn", "Bronte", "McKinzee", "Monet", "Gwyneth", or "Ryen" on them. Unusual names for girls, but I like them.

I worry a little about mud-splattered jackets going through the washer and dryer though.

Let's hope the moms (and laundry-dads) turn them inside out before tossing them in the machines. Even if they don't, though, I suspect they'll do fine.

Yay!!

They look thrilled to pieces and I'm glad they insisted you get in there too. ;) Another good job! Looks like they took the jackets to a professional shop and had them done. ;)

Thanks Sharon. It was fun, and I enjoyed being there when the girls received their jackets

I have read on the SewBiz list what folks charge for doing this, and I figure the embroidery time alone (with an average of 7400 stitches per jacket) was worth about $15.00 each, and the digitizing would have cost them $65.00 for the big logo, and ??? for digitizing each of the letters for the girls' names. I have looked at the font digitizing software Embird sells. However, I didn't have the file as a "font" file, just the .jpg of the letters, so software would not have worked.
