Most safety garments are sewn on sergers these days. Not sure you'd be able to repair a fuel pipe...
Whacha fixing? We've got folks on here that do everything from clothing to curtains, to upholstery, to kites to heavy duty outdoor gear..... And I know I left some things out. ;) Give us some idea of what you need to do, and I am SURE we can give you some guidance. ;)

When my bath towels fray at the side edges and there is still lots of good use in them I either sere the edges or use the serger to make bath mats. I round of the corners to makae the serging easier. I also have use mine to make napkins and placemats.I've cut down a couple of old blankets to use as beach blankets. I'm thrilled with the serger after only having it 3 months. When I went to the first class the dealer gave I took along some of the little projects I did. The instructor was rather impressed. She said most people will not even give a serger a try until they've had some instruction. Experiment with it. You'll be surprised at how much you can use it. Juno
First thing I ever did with my little Pfaff 4760 4 thread was to turn an old welders coat (some kind of green suede) into tool pouches for its owner. Worked great. Last week I repaired friends popup tent by replacing the zippers in 2 corners. Had to take the machine to the tent but it worked great on 36 in zippers. Also Have done a lot of grocery bags from canvas and leather for the stores where you have to pay for their bags. Lots and lots of fur seamed together for blankets etc. Did a fleece quilt for G' daughter for Xmas . Many pocket repairs in Nomex garments.
You can cut worn-out towels into washrags with your serger.
