oh my!

i made my little pirate a pair of britches using:

think my brain wasn't quite functioning because i ended up with 40" of fabric to pleat into a 20" waist... oops. so i hacked off several inches on each side, pleated it into a waistband which is also drawstring. the ankles are also drawstring. they're extremely baggy, but he loves them. i made them of a midweight brown linen, so they should be cool & comfy. i'm making up the muslin for his shirt (which i didn't do for the britches. silly me!)

is coming out *much* nicer than my last 2 attempts at chemises for him. the real shirt will be handkerchief weight white linen with 1/4" lace on the neckband, slit facing & cuffs. we picked out buttons for the pirate coat yesterday too. they're a silvery filigree with a pearl center (plastic of course). the trim is white lace (the kind you run ribbon through) & silver braid. lee

heh heh. i'll tell Caitlyn's mom. she's quite the messy child :) Boo *hates* getting dirty, although he's not quite so awful about it now. he has sensory issues & one of them is dirt. another one is clothing seams, so he prefers French seams or flat fell seams if he has to wear woven fabrics. he's pickier about shirts than trousers though, & jeans don't bother him. lee
