How nice of you to show us that, Beverly. I was very curious about our newspaper saying one of the gowns looked like a tablecloth. I thought that was rather snarky . . . until I saw the gown. It was fun too to see what the folks in the backgrounds were wearing. Wish they'd raised their skirts ( just a little) and let us see their shoes. Polly

Being always a little short of time, please tell me, who showed up with granny's tablecloth?

Ah. Since this is a sewing group, can we say that he won "The Pair of Pants I'd Most Like to See on My Floor" award?

Sharon, the last one didn't show up for me. I always watch certain award shows, such as the Academy and the Grammys because I like to see what the actors & actresses are wearing, their expressions and comments.
I started watching them the first year we had a TV in the house, and try never to miss a one. All of your comments just adds to my enjoyment; usually I'm of the same opinion.

That was on my "miss" list. The underlayer appeared to be gold lame. The stiff high collar and linebacker shoulders were, ummm, can we all say UGLY? I thought we could.
And her launching of an "F-bomb" (accidentaly-on-purpose) during her acceptance speech just added to the trailer-trash ambiance.
One longs for Davis, Hepburn, et al....

We always have the best discussions about these don't we? And they really do inspire a lot of ideas. Well, Some of them inspire ideas. Others serve as gruesome warnings of what not to do. lol Sharon

Ok, missy, send the check for a replacement monitor and keyboard ASAP! :->
I think the designer was channeling Joan Crawford, remember those 30s shoulders?
Yes, REALLY HIDEOUS! Maybe the designer specified "cream" or "ecru" and this is what came in at the last moment, too late to change, so...
Not even Hilary Swank or Halle Barry could bring off that mess....
I do admire the sleek and trim body many of those gals have. There was a red maillot dress which fit like a second skin. Everyone critiqued it as being too plain. Well, it might have benefited from a few Swarovski crystals around the neck, but I really liked it.
It would be kindest to recycle that entire outfit, perhaps into the nearest star.

While I sometimes like a fishtail gown, this one tends to make her body look like it is also shaped like the body of a fish.

Not bad for a maternity gown, though I don't know why she is responsible for sweeping the carpet.
How about this?

This one seems to be based on origami --- but they ran out of fabric before the final fold.
