The last three or four years now we've been hooked on audio books.
First came across them when I finally gave in and bought a Sat-Nav. I always argued that I didn't need a bit of high tech equipment to help me get lost, but it is indispensible when taking holidays in different parts of the UK. Nice to be able to plan out a route around various attractions using the little back roads and byeways rather than thrashing from A to B on the main roads.
Apart from helping to make long journeys just whistle past, the Audio Books are also ideal to listen to of an afternoon when sewing, although if like me you are prone to taking a brief nap after lunch it's far better to wait a hour before listening! They can be listeend to using an MP3 player or PC.
Genres? Lots and lots of murder mystery, David Hewson, Christopher Fowler, Peter Kerr to name but three favoured authors. Dewey the Library Cat was a delight, and I've just bought Homer's Odyssey by Gwen Cooper. Homer is a sightless kitten who grows into a fine and independent cat. Some autobiographies, comedies as well as one or two bummers! Have to say, the reader can make or break the enjoyment.
