OT: Checking in, its been awhile, Been Studying, not sewing :(

It has been quite awhile since I posted here, probably over a week since I even read any posts! I am glad to see that the world still turns without me.

Studying is going so slowly, its awful. I am having problems studying around the kids, so I have to sometimes stay up very late, and that just ruins the next day because I get tired. I am also still working most evenings and weekends. My test is in 5 weeks, and I am not quite half-way through the book. But I know I will pass, I only have to get 60%, and I am confident that I will get at least 80%, because when I was in college I always got 95-100. That was only a few years ago, I can bring back the study skills!

To get back on the subject of sewing.....I have to do some mending, which I HATE!!! My DH has some of those track pants that are lined with the holey fabric, and the crotch keeps busting out of them. I don't want to take them apart so I just hand sew them with a ladder stitch, hopefully this time it lasts a bit longer. If anyone knows of another way to fix them please let me know!

Wish me luck, I probably will check in in another two weeks or so!

Hi, Michelle! We all know you will do a great job with your test! Hang in there, with the kids. Just remember, it's really good for them to see YOU studying--you are being an excellent role model for them!

As for the track pants, I know just what you mean about the holey fabric. If you don't want to do this again, why not try adding a piece of additional, stabilizing fabric of some kind? I would stitch it to the parts of the lining that are whole, and additionally stitch it to the actual seamline, with the stabilizing fabric bordering that area by at least an inch or two. You'll have to use something equally soft and pliable, so it doesn't chafe, as that area is a bit, er, sensitive. Maybe a tricot of some kind would work.

My husband is equally creative about making projects like this for me, can you tell? :)
