Let's be honest here. If you had used one of the conventional types of bowdlerizing or munging of your address, it would have make somebody so curious as to what it all meant that they would have asked on the group and then another helpful person wouldn't have explained it to them. Their explaining it didn't increase your risk of spam; you just didn't like it, and you're not the first person it has happened to but you are the first person who has taken massive offense at it.

I just remembered that the bridesmaids didn't have to pay for the material, that was part of the present. We/they did have to buy shoes and underwear.

Generally, its a girls party where the bride's friends or relatives "shower" her with gifts, usually household sort of stuff.

Ah, yes, RCTQ...where I was accused of saying something I _didn't_ say, by someone who never bothered to acknowledge she was mistaken. How exactly does that jive with such exemplary posting conventions?

Pot-kettle syndrome - it abounds. Esp in groups with some posters that take a sanctimonious tone and snipe at total strangers when they think they're being ignored for too long. Clearly the miserable mare doesn't know how to ignore threads that don't interest her - and also has absolutely no sense of humour. .

I didn't realise the slugs and snails in my garden were flown in... makes sense, when I think of how many there are. They've obviously lost the return portions of their tickets.

Seems to be a bit of a tradition in my family. DH & I opted for a civil ceremony in judge's chambers in Georgetown, outside ot Toronto in Ontario. Attendants were my former flatmate and an old friend of hubby's. My mom & dad came along as well. DH's family were all in Australia so we phoned - can't remember if it was just before or just after. Some years later my baby sister came back from a holiday, and let Mom know that she and her partner of many years had got married while they were away. A couple of years ago, my niece and her boyfriend relocated to Alberta after graduating. Rang my SIL to say they'd decided to get a marraige licence while they were in the process of getting their driver's licences changed over ... (or something to that effect).

DH & I are due to celebrate 35 years of "living with the wrong person" in September. I think baby sis + BIL are coming up to 20-odd years. No fuss seems to have worked for us, but I know it's not for everyone. Takes a lot of the early stress out of being married... Smudge in Oz
