[OT] Fun, Fun, Fun!

Spent the day yesterday celebrating my DGS's 16th birthday:

Lunch at Fuddrucker's: hamburgers all around, with 16 candles on assorted cupcakes for dessert.

Three hours playing at Bullwinkle's (annihalted him at laser-tag, and split a gut watching him bounce on the harnessed trampoline)

Dinner at Chevy's: assorted TexMex, and he good-spiritedly wore the free sombrero during the meal.

We were a party of six, and DGS was the most entertaining, sweet, cordial, spirited, nice, *loving* young man on the planet, at least for that eight hour period. What a joy he is!

Ok, back to sewing.

Beverly, what a great way to spend a day. At 16, many kids, just will not acknowledge that they even have a family. That makes it so much the better that you were all together. I love the times we spend with our grandkids. Sometimes they get me a little edgy but they are a treasure so who cares if they set your teeth on edge occasionally. Mine range from 19 down to almost 1 year. I wouldn't give up one day I get to spend with them. I'm so glad you had such a wonderful day. Juno

Beverly, that sounds like WAY more fun than we had yesterday. My fil passed away, and we had a graveside ceremony to bury his ashes, then a memorial service across the street at the funeral home (with nearly 200 attending, and yours truly giving part of the memorial), then a wake here at our house with nearly 75 people. I'm still fried. We have one more family member to take to the airport, and then I get to collapse.

Sewing? What's that?

Well just go and do that! You need a few days rest before heading off for that show... Or will that feel like a rest-cure after the last two weeks?

Its where you take some thread... Oh, never mind! Just go put your feet up!

I'm so sorry for your loss, I know you were very fond of the old boy. I find that weddings and funerals (of which we seem to have to go to more and more these days - a sign of getting older I guess) are equally stressful.

Please give yourself two or three days off, not just one. You will feel better for it in the long run.

You and your family have our sympathy and prayers for your loss, Karen. Get rested up a couple days before doing much of anything else; a loss of a loved one is very traumatic as we all know. Emily

Thanks to everyone for your condolences. My father-in-law was a super guy, but he was 93, and had lived an exciting, full life. He was one of the first to use color film to chronicle wildlife, and he worked for Walt Disney, among his many other achievements. The funeral home was packed, which was a fine tribute to a man who made many friends of all ages. We were so lucky to have had him with us as long as we did, and still active and living on his own to the end.

hmmm..lol

my take would mean that we are a friendly, helpful sort, sometimes quite nice, other times slightly dysfunctional, but always love each other .

yep, I think that fits...
