YAY!!!!!!! I know you are so proud of her, and you should be!!! Give her a big hug for me when you see her next. That's fantastic and I know she worked so hard to get there.
Sharon
That is a great honor for your DGD, Beverly and I know she is excited. And what an impressive selection of instruments she plays!
Emily
What an honor! What a talented family you have! Juno
Indeed I am! :-)
That will be this afternoon. I marked the skirt on her long performance skirt yesterday, and since the serger I gave them was acting up, I brought it home to finish. I am in complete awe of how much this young woman packs into her days. She still dances, plays league soccer at her high school, has an online store for the hats she designs and makes, pet-sits all the critters in her neighborhood, and maintains a 4.0 GPA (four years and counting..).
Thanks Emily!
She had a little head start, her father is a music teacher, her mother got her degree in vocal music performance. She takes private lessons on all three instruments, not from her father. We had begun to suspect she was skilled at the bassoon, this pretty much confirms it.
Thanks, I am thrilled for her!
I chose my DSIL carefully! ;-)
Just received the news that yesterday DGD was accepted by the Portland Youth Wind Ensemble:
YAY!!!!!!!!! Fantastic news!!!!!
Sharon
It must be the week for budding sewists to show other talents. MY DGD, the newest sewist on the block, submitted a photo she took to a regional middle school contest. She placed second and is now going to the state finals. It's so great to see these young people willing to show the rest of the world that they have what it takes to succeed. We are very proud of her. Juno
Indeed! The downside is that she will undoubtedly have to drop Highland Dancing. :-| However, since her talents obviously lie in the musical area, it's probably a good choice for her.
Kudos to your DGD! Isn't it fabulous that we can support future sewists in their other fields as well?
Your DGD may just put dancing on hold, she may follow both, she may end up at Julliard or Parsons. Talent always wins out and she's loaded. These young people have so much energy and talent. I wish the same on every grandparent. Great grand kids like yours and mine. Juno
Oh Awesome!!! You should be very proud of her. ;) That's great. I hope she does very well at the state contest too!
Sharon
As well you should be, Juno. I know how it makes a person want to dance with joy when the DGC win such awards as your DGD and Beverly's, too. Congratualtions to both young ladies!
Emily
Thank you Emily.I know you ware well versed in happy things happening to DGC. Those of us who have grands know they are fun; smart, like their grandparents and the best in the world. They have to be their our grand children!!! Juno
I suspect once she stops practicing Highland dance, the "muscle memory" will go. There is only so many hours in the day/week/month and *something* is going to have to be discontinued to make time for these two new commitments. It's OK though, as much as I have loved watching her dance (and making her costumes) I also really enjoy attending her concerts. We go out for ice cream after... ;-)
