OT: Ping Ursula

Ursula, I have a yen for some Pfeffernus this Christmas like my Grannie made every year and distributed in Mason jars. Lots of receipes via Google, of course, but I can't decide on one. You have a favorite you can share? Thanks, JPBill

Oh, I seem to have missed the original post! Pfeffernuesse and Springerle are not exactly my favourite Christmas cookies I never tried making them. However, I do have a very reliable recipe book for Christmas specialities that has both cookies in it. I'll try to translate the recipes as soon as possible and post them. Mind, for Springerle you need a special kind of mould, as far as I know, but if you can get hold of it - no problem.

Oh betsey,

I'm so sorry, I just don't get round to translating the recipes. I know I mentioned it before: My DM has cancer and is now in chemo, although at home. My DF is not coping too well with the situation and since one of my brothers is on vacation and the other and his wife have full-time jobs, most of the errands and soothing both parents falls into my quarter. DD has a feverish cold, so she hasn't been to Kindergarten most of the week, and DH has been ill, went to see the GP voluntarily (THAT ill!) and was suspected a heart attack. In hospital they couldn't find anything but want to continue diagnosing next week. And I had a bad bout of migraines for the best part of the week. On Friday morning I broke down crying in the kitchen, hoping that at least the headaches would finally go away, which they did. I haven't written a single Christmas card so far, hardly any presents for anybody, and nothing done in the baking section so far. Mind, I think the convection function of my oven broke down, but the conventional part is still working so far. Anyway, I hope you will bear with me and wait for next year to try the recipes. I'll get to work on the translations as soon as I can, I promise. And, while we're at it, I'll translate the cake recipe for Kate, too.

U.

Ursula, very sorry about all the illnesses to contend with in your life; particularly now at this stressful time of year. Please don't give another thought to a pfeffernus recipe on my account, at least.

My prayers are with you, as are those of others in this group, I'm sure. JPBill
