OT silk

I tossed my favorite silk nightshirt in the washer with some towels before I let the detergent swish around the washer a bit. Dark green shirt now has ugly brown splotches. No matter, it wasn't a thing of beauty to begin with. I suspect a few grains of not-yet dissolved detergent is the guilty party. Usually I add the detergent while the washer is filling. Probably a good idea. Polly

Don't you hate those washing machine disasters. I always put the detergent in first. The other thing is I cann only use liquid detergent in my machine. Powder doesn't dissolve in my water, just makes big clumps. Juno

Here in southern NY....and maybe other places in the state, there is only liquid detergent for sale. Haven't had powder in ages. Audrey

Liquid is the way to go especially if you have a septic system, that powder tends to clog
