OT: The big move

Hey all,

Thank you so much for all the good wishes about our upcoming move! Emily, the job in TX was a mess. They offered about a 15% cut in pay, and there would have been just as many if not more hours involved. Yuck! So, that one was really easy to turn down even though it meant not moving closer to you and all the other wonderful folks down there. If it had worked out, I'd have had to look for a house with a BIG sewing room --- I would have been in the middle of several of us. ;) But this way you will have one more vacation stop to add to your list. ;)

Cea! That goes for you too. Wish there was something out your way, but that's really the wrong direction for us too..... My folks are in Indy. His folks are in NM. His mom (stepdad retired a few years ago....then went to work someplace else. lol) will be retiring in the next couple years. So....we're trying to split the difference between the two families. This will help with that a lot. But! You will be welcome to visit any time you like. Looks like there are quite a few fabric shops I will have to investigate. ;) And y'know I'd never say no to a Mail By Fabric Warming. LOL!!!

Pat, you are wonderful! I know just where Bella Vista is! Just past Bentonville aka Wal-Mart Central. ;) We will definitely have to arrange lunch or something when I get out there. Can't tell you what it means to know there's one "friendly face" out there already. :)

Larissa, You are the Research Queen. Next time you are at the Dollar Store, get yourself a crown and think of me. ;) LOL Thank you Heaps and Gobs for looking all that up for me!!

Thank you everyone for the packing tips too!!! I will keep all those in mind. Hey Michelle, another sneaky thing to do with plastic bags and vacuums----that's a good way to clean cushions that you sit on. When they get dusty, drop them in a bag and suck all the air out. Pulls dust, etc (not gummy bears, but then what does???) out of the pillows. Cool huh? Also if you are trying to put a pillow or cushion in a sham that's a wee bit too tight, this trick works GREAT!!!!! Had to do that with the pillows I made to match the couch. Didn't have a big enough zipper. lol

As for my stash......well my dear sweet hubby has not asked me to weed it out. ;) But!!! I know there's stuff in there that I will never use. Patterns, trims, fabric (yes yardage not scraps.) So, I'm trying to figure out a way to do that. I thought about doing a cyber garage sale. ;) What I may do is post a link to pictures of the stuff, then if anyone is interested you can email me. I think that will be within the rules of the group. I thought about Ebay, but for what I want to put up there, I'd rather give all y'all first dibs. ;) So I will let you know what I do with it. (I'd rather it all go to "good homes." lol)

Oh NO! not the gummy bears? I wouldn't try that without first investigating for toys lol!

Happy Moving! We may be moving this summer within our city if we can find a rental house that will let us have a small dog. DH is just dying for a lap dog! I personally hate packing, moving, and unpacking, but it is exciting having a new place!

"CNYstitcher"

Everyone needs a tiara, in fact I used to have two! I gave one to DSIL on my wedding day as a gift, along with the matching earings and necklace.

That is so true! Packing is the pits. But I am discovering buried treasure in my sewing room. LOL A friend of mine called a little while ago to tell me that she had boxes for me. She's a purchasing clerk, so she's saving all the big heavy weight boxes that come in. She said she would get them to me tomorrow. Then she asked how the packing was coming, she was afraid I was sitting here saying "well crud! If only I had one more box." I told her I've not started packing yet because I'm cleaning out my sewing room. She said I have her total empathy. LOL She also said she would send a search party if I'm not heard from for a few days. ha! With friends like that.... ;)

Good to know I'll be in good company packing up this summer. I'm trying to look at the whole thing as a grand adventure. ;) We'll just have to hope that thought lasts, huh?

We rented to a couple who not only put up the required security deposit but signed that they would have the house treated for fleas when they moved out, or that cost would come out of their deposit. The neighborhood has cats and dogs who roam free and there is no way fleas can be avoided.

I wish, around here (Saskatoon) there are regulating laws that say that you have to clean your carpets when you move out regardless of pets or not. also we asked our landlord if we could pay a deposit for a pet but she said no because of allergy regulations she has set for her own business. The place we lived before allowed pets, but it was not the area we wanted to live in, although a good area it was too far from work, and it was a trailer so the utility bills were too high due to insulation issues and etc. otherwise I love it there, great neighbors.

She also said she would send a search

yes, you must check in from time to time, or I fear you will be buried under a pile of fabric.

You inspired me to clean my basement/play room/sewing room/ weight room/ laundry room. all of those in one big open basement. And the awful part is, only two plug-ins.

Michelle Giordano - worked all morning and barely got anything done.
