[OT] Vent!

The concert was great, and the house is toasty warm. Now I'll have a bit of ice cream and watch TeeVee for an hour.

I'm in! Be sure those aides are young, handsome, virile fellows...

I'm so glad you are getting rid of that. My MIL has one and so do a couple of my friends. I think they're a PITA.

And the process of getting the new one installed has been a HUGE PITA!!!!

I'da been ticked off right with you, Beverly, m'dear. Glad you got the furnace fixed and I'm glad you were paying attention and made them run the line through the joists. What were they thinking??? "Oh yeah, it's just a natural gas line...it will be fine flopping around out here with no support and where someone could cut it easily moving something in the basement...that will be fine." Sheesh! That was just dumb.

Glad you made it to the concert and that the furnace was an easy fix. ;)

I was thinking when I chose it: "Smooth top = easy to keep clean". Nope, it shows every smudge, and boil something over on it: forgetaboutit! But the worst aspect is the complete lack of fine control on the temperature. On my old coil electric, when I turned a burner down to the lowest position, it would truly "simmer". This thing just seems to continue to boil for a long time. I don't know how many "over-easy" eggs I have fried hard, but it's way too many. And how many times I've turned spaghetti sauce down to simmer and thicken, only to have it burn. :-(

Truly! The funniest part was the injured, "Well if you had only said something" baloney. Yeah, sure, "I don't know why I was thinking you guys would know how to do your job, I should have been supervising. Maybe I should have instructed you on how to make all the connections as well?" :-}

Thanks, the concert was great fun, I took the family to Baskin & Robbins after (longstading tradition). And DSIL informed me that he has that particular part on hand, as he has also had to replace it. So he offered to get me the part and show me how to install it next time.

He is such a lovely man! He gave me kudos for installing the new valve in the hall bathroom toilet a couple of weeks ago. The only reason I tackled it was that I watched him do the same job in the other bathroom a couple of years ago.

We've got a Bosch that I like a lot. Yes, smudges, but they don't particularly bother me -- if they bother someone else in the house, he knows where the cleaning supplies are.

That's not been an issue with this stove at all, but sure was with the coil unit it replaced. Though I think the previous owners bought the cheapest appliances they could find...

I love cooking on gas, but there's no gaslines out in the country, and I hate propane tanks.

The other thing I hated about electric ovens was they didn't hold temperature well for proofing bread. This one is so heavily insulated that it's still warm the next morning if I've used the oven the night before. Great for bread dough.

Ah well, it definitely beats cooking over a campfire in the pouring rain.

Kay, just in from septic tank cleaning, oh joy... ;-)
