Paging Kate

Kate, help!!!! I received the Huskylock 910 I bought on eBay, and love its 4-thread and 3-thread overlock. However, I don't seem able to set it up for two-thread narrow rolled hem. The seller insists that it does not need the two-thread converter shown in the manual, but I can't get it to chain after setting everything up according to the manual but _without_ the converter. I set the LCD screen for all the 2-thread narrow rolled hem settings, I have removed the upper looper thread, and left side needle and thread, but no joy so far. Can you offer any hints as to what I'm doing wrong?

TIA,

UNLESS this is one of the newer 910's with the 2 thread converter built into the upper looper, you WILL need that little metal gizmo! Take a look in the manual, and if it says that little bit of metal is needed, get back to the seller and ask for it. If they tell you it's lost (perfectly possible - it's minute and easily mislaid!), nag them into getting you one. There is no way to do a two thread rolled hem or any other 2 thread stitch without it as far as I can see, because that gizmo is what fools the machine into thinking it's playing with three threads! What it does is catch the lower looper thread and wrap it round the top of the fabric, so that one thread is caught by the needle thread on BOTH sides of the cloth.

Having played with this a LOT, I do know whereof I speak... I always forget which way round it goes, and have to hunt up the manual to remind me, too!

If he/she doesn't come up with the goods, you may need to buy one: if this was a professional seller, some negative feedback might be mentioned. Not sure what use that might be with a private seller.

needed,

It does, and I did.

threads!

Aha! No doubt that's why it refused to chain....

always

Kate, after I posted, I decided to take a look at the video, (I had been trying to set it up using just the manual) and it definitely instructs one to use the converter. The seller has told me that her local JoAnn's usually has them for $3.95, she suggests that I purchase one, and she will refund me $4.00. I'm not sure whether she is a private seller or professional, I will be mentioning this in the feedback. Since I'm planning on adding the gathering foot and the elastic foot, I'll be making a run to the shop tomorrow. Thanks for your advice! It's nice to have my sanity confirmed. ;-)

Oh, yeah! ;-}

Turns out though, that no one stocks it, so I'll have to await a special order before I can play with the narrow rolled edge. :-( Maybe I'll give Ron a shout.

Thank you very much!!! :-)

Today, it's nose to the grindstone gathering yet _more_ tulle. Both DD and DGD (Darling GrandDaughter, the flower girl) have voluminous petticoats.
