Pattern for newborn gown needed

I've been trying to find a pattern for a baby gown or kimono. I want to make a closed bottom gown for a little one who will be arriving next month here in Penfield. Of course I donated all my newborn patterns just a few months before my daughter told me she was expecting and I haven't been able to find anything in the current pattern catalogs.

If anyone can steer me in the right direction I would very much appreciate your help,

Thanks,

Judie

Here's some freebies. The 3rd one has 161 links that I didn't research Juno

Thanks, Beverly, the middle one is just what I've been searching for but for some reason I hadn't seen that one until now. I did buy the other two a couple of weeks ago but they're not quite what I wanted.

You're welcome. My DMIL and I spent the week between my younger DD's premature birth and her coming home from the hospital sewing tiny little outfits using 16" doll patterns. Older DD inherited the outfits for her dolls a few months later. ;-)

Well. Finally. "I" get to be the expert. I've made hundreds of newborn gowns and tested every free and pricey pattern available. Mississippi has the painful status of more premature and needy babies in the nation and I do my best shot at dressing as many of them as I can. The absolute best finest pattern is 'Preemie Daygowns and Bonnets' by Ginger Snaps Designs. That sweet little pattern is perfect for a newborn unless he arrives at nine pounds and can be as plain as speed needs it to be or as embellished as you want to just go crazy with. Depending, of course, at the weather for arrival date and your budget, a prime other consideration is fabric. Flannel does not = flannel. Some of it is deplorable when washed and 'new' daddies helping out can be ruthless. Baltazor's in New Orleans is a good source. I'm not affiliated but that's where I go when I want a flannel that is very special. Polly

OP was not asking specifically for preemie patterns, she wants patterns for a soon-to-be full term grandchild. I gratuitously threw in my experience of 40 years ago when I had to create a preemie wardrobe in a hurry. ;-)

I agree that

a good looking pattern for preemies.

You're so right, Beverly. I sent a gown to a dear friend in Scotland by the Ginger Snap pattern. That precious newborn really surprised everyone and came here at 9½ pounds and wore the gown with the top button undone. On the other hand, I remember how our own little ones looked when clothed in something that fit like a king-size water bed sheet on a cot. She'll have to decide whether she wants to stitch something for right at the beginning or for weeks and happy pounds to gain. Polly

Thanks, Juno, the second link has plenty to keep me busy and just what I've been wanting.
